It was a good game saturday night at Nairne, but Nairne had their top four onballers out. And both our ruckmen who are 6' 10'+ . Nairne would have flogged Mypo like they did last year in the trial, if we had our full team.

Last year we lost in the b grade by 1 point i think it was...
and our A's won by about 6 goals i think that game was played at Mypo.

With the 6'10' boys one has played at Nairne since under 14's i remember playing with him and we were both 13 years old and he was about 6'1' haha was pretty funny watching the other ruckmen he used to come up against they looked tiny.. And the other ruckmen is a new recruit this season, from somewhere in town.

Mypo full forward was unbeleivable kicking 11 goals...

had a chat to a couple of blokes this morning and supposedly mypo had their FB and CHB out, as well as 3 or 4 of their key onballers, so maybe it wasnt too bad a result?
will be interesting to see after a couple of rounds in anyway.
looks as though the bluds are getting into some good form early. will be a good game to watch round 1, GF rematch. where is it being played?

anyway care to put in their tips for this week?

Presumably Joe Pedler didn't play, i've heard his appearances may be limited due to work commitments, so wouldn't think he'd play a trial.

As for my tips/guesses:

Round 1

Jervois v Imps - IMPS in an upset, 21 points
Ramblers v Mannum - RAMBLERS too many guns, 34 points
Meningie v Mypo MYPO - 45 points

dunno who many people read the standard yesterday but it had petes predictions for the teams this year and a bit of a write up about each one, inlcluding all of the ins and outs. also had a 'top ten players' list.

petes predicted finish is:
Jervois
imps
mannum
ramblers
mypo
meningie
tailem

of course the interesting one to note is mannum. it seems james smith is playing this year and pete rates him as the best player in the RMFL for a long time.
he must be pretty good to take them to third place this year... although he did dominate against imps last year when they rolled them.

cant remember the top ten players sorry.

I see he Mypo girls promoting their nude netball calendar in the advertiser today. That would have to be an incentive to play footy out there.

I'm quite surprised that Ramblers are listed at 4th. I haven't been able to have a look at the Standard yet, is there any mention there of the Roosters losses. I thought they basically hadn't lost anyone from last year but had picked up a few. Also has Mannum picked up many others apart from Smith, i would have thought they'd need to pick up a few others apart from Smith to get them past the Chooks and Mypo.

I'm also surprised he didn't put Harrowfield in the top 3 as well.

according to the article, ramblers have lost eli koch, joel matchoss, thomas may and jamie gunther. who knows how many of them played a's though?

mannums gains are many (obviously not all can be a graders as they wouldnt have the points to play them) chris and josh rudiger, steven thiele, todd boughen and justil maloney all form karoonda. daniel thiele, josh gould, mitchell stalenberg, daniel smith, james kerin, and the following players 'pending' - paul sarno, ben lambert, donald andrews and mark dearman.

yeah i was a bit surprised by his predicted finish too. not so much jervois but the order of those after it, especially mannum.
but i guess thats petes job, to get everyone talking about local footy and if he has to write something a bit 'out there', he certianly will!
