All due respect to Ryan Sidebottom but if he is ripping through a batting lineup then it is so far below Test cricket standard it is embarrassing.

I agree but unfortunately for New Zealand that is exactly what happened.

Terrible for NZ cricket isn't it. Guess it's lucky they don't have to play in the Sheffield Shield any more cos if Sidebottom is taking them apart imagine what some of our domestic bowlers would do to them. Just picture them against NSW's winning side  Lee, Clark, Bracken, MacGill, Casson, Clarke

Be a good game between them and SA though

yeah against he best attack in world cricket

This is a bloke who has scored only 90 odd runs at an average less than 20 this series.

It does not matter what sort of attack it is against, he needs this and badly.
well he is on the way 42* at stumps. another failure for MP Vaughan!!! now he needs runs with the ashes just over a year away. if england dont smash the kiwis in england the aussies could be in for a big english summer next year. But freddy just made his come back in the county comp

Exactly the sort of score Strauss needed to hold his spot and now he will need to build on that during the home summer.

Terrific innings by Bell, looked in brilliant touch from the get go and really cashed in on some very gentle bowling.

NZ 5/222 at stumps, day 4.
Barring bad weather it should be a formality that England take the series tomorrow.

How long are they going to keep playing James Anderson though?
Good if conditions are absolutely perfect for him, but woeful when they aren't (which is most of the time).

On debut i would imagine it is a first but in all i reckon there's a fair chance Hadlee or Vettori have done it before.

Sorry RR, I was talking about debuts, should've mentioned it....
I'd probably add Chris Cairns in addition to Vettori and Hadlee.

Southee, 6th Fastest 50 in Test cricket history which even puts him above Viv Richards
Mind you, the CRAP that Monty was bowling to him, it wasn't surprising.
Its amazing how ordinary a test spinner can look when a Batsman decides to be positive against them. Southee looked like a White, Right Handed LARA in full flight against Monty. =D> =D>

Southee - brightened up my watching of the last day.

There should be a law that if you are more than 200 behind and you are more than 7 wickets down, be it first or second innings, all blokes in the lower order are compelled to slog.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.
