I was unaware that Ivan was a " current " country player , if so yes he would be up there and no doubt one of the first picked in any rep side due to his versatility and ability to win a game off his own boot .

Your joking aren't ya? If we are talking biggest nut case of country footy you'd be right.

Ivan...cough...Silvy.. Having seen Ivan play many times, dont take the pi$$!! But you do need to guys to stand him, one on him, the other on his ego!

Having played on the self proclaimed 'legend' Ivan Silvy I can tell you he is entirely overrated. For him to be mentioned on this topic is utterly disgraceful.

GSFL
David Hams - Willunga - The best contested mark I've seen. I saw Prime at the state champs and he looked ordinary against good opposition.
Mitch Portlock - Willunga - Explosive off the mark and sublime vision and disposal.
Marcus Burdett - Mount Compass (Maybe South Adelaide) - Supremely fit and does not miss a target (unless its the goals  )

give prime a good midfield and he is unstoppable. you got to remember he is pushing 40 and what he did last year was top shelf

Another contender would have to be Muffy "The Wizard" Kartinyeri... his record speaks for itself & if you've ever seen him play you'd agree that he must be literally the hardest guy to lay a hand on that has ever donned a pair of boots... soo quick & elusive.

After 1 year in the HFL to adapt i'm tipping (if fit all year) he'll carve up the comp this year & win another MM.

You blokes arent serious are ya, I reckon your credibility has hit rock bottom boys. I cannot believe your considering this bloke with the likes of Rod Maynard, Tony Modra, Josh Hollitt and Joel Wilson still running around. I think you blokes have been talking to Ivan a bit too much lately.

I think Matt Cooper from Hahndorf will show everyone how it's done this year, just like he did when he was previously playing in the HFL. Let's not forget he was rated as the best player playing League football 3 years ago. Lookout for Hahndorf this year

Well hafey when you actually make a post that makes any sense, rather gloating on what you think you know, then you do like blow your own horn, which indicates the following -

1. Your a short man - (no offence to other short men out there)
2. You have limited footballing ability, therfore trying justify yourself with over extended knowledge.
3. You are a complete ignoramus.

your choice chump!

Mate your entitled to your opinion but making a claim that Ivan Silvy is the best current country footballer is disturbing. I know as President of the "I Love Ivan" fan club and the fact that you have never seen a game in which Sir Ivan wasnt playing in makes your opinion a little bias, but maybe this season might be a good chance to branch out, take a risk, and watch some other players, because i reckon, you may be surprised, and hopefully, for your credibility's sake, you'll realise that ivan silvy is a good country footballer only, with a lazy, "im too good for this" attitude.

You have another bad day at the GMH factory start ? gone home and given your wife another beating ?

Attacking guys from behind keyboards isn't really showing much balls and indicates to me , you were probably molested as a child ( and enjoyed it ) contunally picked on and beaten up at school and when it comes down to crunch you couldn't fight your way out of wet paper bag and would run for your life if even a old man like myself confronted you .

I am going to agree to disagree with you on this one .

I still stick to my word that the two best " CURRENT " country players i have seen are Brad Taylor & Ivan Silvy ...........IN MY OPINION !

NB: i wasn't the only person to rate silvy either so read into that as you like .

Fair enough if they're the best you've seen, but clearly they wouldn't be the overall best country players in the state.

My 2 bobs worth. Im not sure that the best 2 country players are gonna come from the BLG League. Having said that Taylor is a good footballer who goes hard and can play in the guts or up forward.

Silvy has talent but is the lasiest footballer you'll meet and shows little commitment.

Having mainly watched the APFL in recent times I think that Brad Valentine who is now at Kapunda is as good a country footballer as you'll find. I think he made state country side last year and is a rock at CHB. I can't call him the best player in the state though cause I havn't seen the others play but Im sure Valentine would be mixing it with them!
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Seen alot of Valentine at HWE and whilst I would agree probably not the best certainly up there as one of the most versatile players in the State. Early HWE premierships was played up forward, later ones (and where he played the best) were at CHB. Made the State Country side as a wingmen and has turned games on the head as a ruckmen. Not a lot of guys can do that.

Will watch his performances in the BLG league with alot of interest.
