[Lunchcutter]

My dh and myself are off to Comedy for a Cause at the Town Hall on Sunday - sposed to be 16 of the best stand-up's from the fringe. (this is after our night out at Magill Estate on Saturday night woo hooo)

Im off to see the Best Of Edinburgh at the Gov in a coupla weeks time ... Tom Stade is back (was here 2 years ago) to headline the show and he's piss funny, so I can highly recommend any show involving him.

Yeah he was the highlight of the show i went to on Sat night. Very funny guy.

Can't wait to see him ... Both him in 06 and Amos last year made the shows a success, to be honest the others on the card were well below par (including some Irish lass last year who had the quietest room I've ever heard during a comedy show).

Went and saw Cal Wilson at the Nova Cinema complex last night.

After a nice dinner with Mrs.Boon at Scoozi,we wandered across for the show.Only about 40 odd people in the 200 odd seat theatre so I was hoping for a good show,perhaps a bit of crowd interaction.

Cal came out in dressing gown,claiming her support act was late,only to whip off stage and return in a lame costume and perform as another character reading poems.

The chick sitting behind us laughed or giggled at everything,not just the punch lines,even getting Wilson to suggest "Wait for the punchlines,they are the funny bit" LOL

All in all a good night out,Wilson ok,wouldn't tell anyone to rush out and see her in a hurry.

Scoozi's Calamari is another story...

Off to see George tonight (the perks of working for his employers ) and Arj on Sunday night.

I saw George last year as well and he was bloody funny, Im really hoping that this years show is different, because the name is the same

Yeah, the Irish girl was fairly poor, in comparison to the following 2 acts. A friend of mine who saw her last year told me as soon as he saw she was appearing this year that she wasn't that funny last year when he saw her, and didn't get many laughs on this occasion either.

Fortunately the next 2 acts made up for her lack of humour. Its almost worth getting to the show half an hour late to miss her lol.

LMAO ... I can't believe this chick keeps rocking up ... We're off to see them all tomorrow night so I might just stay at the bar for that one, cheers for the heads up!

She did get "a few" laughs but i think that was mainly out of sympathy hehe.

I'm glad i sat way up the back, the people in the front row got singled out a few times, and a few i think would have gotten quite embarassed (well at least i would have in their situation).

Saw David O'Doherty at the Nova cinema Saturday night, was good, lots of real funny moments, went for nearly 90 minutes.

George - Bloody hilarious - 2 hour show and laughed all the way through it..

Arj - A bit disappointing for mine..still funny..but I didn't laugh for an hour.

OK Fringe things:

1. The Porno Puppets from Prague - one of the silliest things I've ever seen but for $10, who cares.
2. Best of the Fest - Tom Stade stole that show and gave us a couple of his DVDs to boot, he's our favourite from now on.
3. Music of the Spheres - at the Planetarium, quite good but was run by Billy-Jo and her brother Bobby-Lee, Aunty Betty was there too so consequently, the admin was rather shite.
4. Empress Stah - burlesque. More risque at times than I thought was necessary but the the support act, this big black gay guy - was fantastic.
5. Daniel Kitson - love him. He is extremely intelligent and his views on the world are most interesting.

Highlights: Six people strapped to poles in the Garden swinging to music, excellent to watch.
The lights on North Terrace (I know it's part of the Festival but...)
Mr MK and I dancing at the silent disco at 2-30am, great fun.

All in all, I enjoyed the Fringe as we don't go every year. Next year we'll go to Womadelaide.

I managed to get to one of Chopper's (Ronnie Johns) 'Make Deadshits Hitsory' shows. Went for about 75 minutes and I wouldn't have gone 60 seconds without laughing my ass off...

Missed out on Stephen K Amos but will hopefully get there next year.
