Seriously though, i don't think travelling 45-60 minutes to play a game of footy 9-10 times a year is that big of a deal???

do you own a business?, do you work on saturday mornings?, do you have kids who play saturday morning sport?,do you have a family?if you answered no to all of those then of course it isnt a BIG hassle..if you were playing in the b grade v gg and you live around kenilworth oval..you leave at 10.15am to be there by 11.30 so you are there 30-40 minutes before the start of the game..your game starts at 12.15 so you leave 2 hours before the game LMAO..this is not a country league..its SAAFL suburban football..sometimes i wonder :)

Why do you play then if it's such a BIG hassle??

(no,no,no,yes just for the record)

i dont play, but why should that matter? what if i am just a supporter, or a trainer, or a coach,or maybe my son plays.. you have no idea of time restraints because you answered no to all of the above and you play for a northern club anyway..the only responsibility you would have on a saturday morning is...well...watching video hits?

If you're a supporter you can get there whenever you like, if you're a trainer or a coach you have to leave early and if your son plays, he should be old enough to drive himself there!! So you're obviously a coach or a trainer and if it's all too hard maybe you need to look at your priorities in life and see where football fits into it. you must be under some big time restraints if you've managed to find time to write a post on here on a saturday morning...

demon ..i maybe wheelchairbound as well, never assume you can work out who/why/how someone is by internet posts ..i never said I WAS any of the above, they were examples..no matter what you say the geographical differences remain and this is a southern teams issue in div 5 not northern because they dont have to do the travelling

when did i say I WAS under time restraints ..?

i was giving examples and situations that can happen for different players and the other responsibilities they can have on a saturday..responsibilities that you dont know about obviously..thats fine..one day maybe you will

Zedman, like you said your havent mentioned any restraints, so if you wouldnt mind why dont you list a few and see what people suggest to you instead of giving them a lesson in life. If you dont want to because thats your business then fine but dont start telling poeple that they shouldnt make assumptions when discussing something if you choose to with hold info.

An maybe you are right. In Div 5 there is a bit more travelling for the southern teams. But thats life.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

Lets take our blinkers off for a second.......How many C grade divisions are there this year compared to last year.....There is 9 less teams in the SAAFL this year than was scripted the same time last year. That is a serious issue and I firmly beleive the majority of it is because of cost of travel. If you have a house that you could just afford last year then you would be scraping the bottom of the barrel now.Alot of the comments on here are arrogant and some don't think before they post something. North and South divisions need to happen for the good of our clubs BUT........It will not happen unless the SFL merge with the SAAFL because there would be only 3 divisions south and 5 north........

stan i dont understand what you want, strange post..i just gave examples of why people have time restraints on a saturday, and the extra travelling to far north teams sucks as lives can be busy already..maybe reread the thread..demon didnt get a life lesson it was a reality reminder thats all :) as i said before lets leave it now :)

You guys have nothing to complain about. My son plays federation soccer for playford city (in Elizabeth) and we have back to back trips to Port Pirie. One game against the Northern Demons and one against Port Pirie. We also have a trip to Seaford and last year we had Norlunga and Christies Beach. Try getting there for a 8.45 am kick off. Its not to bad now as it is an 11.15am kick off.

Who cares, its only Soccer, do I hear you say. But we still have to travel.

Get over it............

You are correct. But when it starts taking coin out of your pocket (If you live at Marion and travel to Elizabeth or vice versa it costs 15-20 just in petrol for the round trip) you have to make choices that you wish you normally do not want to make. The issue hits us in the face and it is money. After fees, boots, personal insurance, travel and functions it all adds up. Making local divisions will help a great deal and as i have said before the general public is lazy,if it is too hard the majority will not do it.

Ahhh so before it was the distance and the time, now it's the petrol....

If you're not going to play footy because of interest rates and higher cost of living, you're not going to whether you have to travel across town or just around the corner.

And if it's a problem and clubs realise it's a problem, then they will do their best to make sure guys can car pool. What's it going to cost in fuel to go from CLG or Flinders to Elizabeth or Central United? $20. Five blokes in a car can't chip in $4 each??? And you lot tend to have a crack at people in the north about having no money and being pov....get a grip.

Hang on....I never said I was in that category. But how else do you explain 9 less teams in a 12 month period? Thats a pretty damning fact I reckon.

( Ask anyone involved at Flinders " The Crabs" Uni. about the away game at Angle Vale this year ! They'll need to leave the night before ! ) Also then have a 14 game home and away season followed by top 4 finals .Then a divisional Final Series < Giving ONE Club the prestigious Adelaide CHAMPION CLUB TROPHY ( maybe call it the BAGMAN TROPHY .. or something ) You Know it makes Sense . I hadn't had a read of this thread earlier, but I can't believe the sooking over a bit of travel. Perhaps you need to go and play a season in the bush to see what travel really is. As a kid my side was at one end of a league with the closest opponent 50km away, next 60km, the furtherest were 130km and 110km, and they are not huge distances compared to what a lot of clubs have to travel now, particullary after so many leagues have amalgamated, you should be thankful that your "big" trip is less than 50km
