Me thinks you are right about Rubert, Newman he is a very silly little boy. Yes Ruby we have been struggling at Broadies but things are now coming together nicely. Write us off as you did two years ago at your own peril! Why dont you come clean and declare which club you support or are you embarrassed to admit you follow Northgate or Gepps Cross or whatever you call yourself this week. The mail on your club is not all that good. Havent heard of any decent recruits and you lost plenty from last year. It appears that your bar manager is now running the footy club as well so look out for a quick spiral downwards now.

Footy Nut, you are showing your ignorance again, it matters not who I follow.
Your comment about "writing you off as 2 years ago" refers to what? Did you win the premiership that year or did something happen we all missed?
If I were a Gepps Cross supporter, why would I be embarrassed? At least they are open and have the lights on when you walk in the place. They may not have been in the Footy big time for long but I bet the people who call Broadview oval home, would love those facilities. How do Broadies survive on about 4 hours per week? Have they paid the money back to their Juniors yet.
One little piece of info I can give you is this, be wary of making stupid statements about employees of an establishment, that can become nasty, especially given Broadies track record of "bar flies" getting their instruments caught in the honey pot.
Another thing I do know is that your source of information is very poor, but then again, when you are laughed at by people within your own club, that probably is par for the course!

FN, Rupert's right on the $$$ with what he is saying, why would he admit where he is from, its not compulsory to tell people on this forum that info.
You are going that well that Dad (Butch) almost pleaded with Mark Jones to come back and play this year!
Tell us that's not true!!
You should get a job at the Advertiser, they dabble in your sort of hipocracy.

I guess you'll have to wait until Round 2 to find out who/what Gepps have lost/gained, and at least their current coach is known in footy circles, not like the new Broadies coach, Mark Sealink!?!?!? :? :?
He must commute from KI each week
Incidentally, tell the coach that it's not only the job of the FD to contact the playing list about preseason, its part of his responsibility to do that as well. Maybe because he is an 'unknown' he wasn't too comfortable in doing that!

It begs the question, do you have issues with the SAAFL or a you just a negative person?

Its not 'synical', i have no issue with the saafl and no i am not a negative person, the post was a question, i was asking does a club pay the saafl for the right to play the game at their home ground, seeing as though attendances are higher to these games at its a public holiday.

Buzz, my apologies and thanks for clearing that up. No at this stage the SAAFL haven't put anything like that in place, I don't think that would be a wise move for them. I do believe though that this year has become a mockery with more games on Anzac Day than on the Sat. Surely they will need to rectify that!

Agreed that the ANZAC Day quota needs to be rectified by the SAAFL, but this year is a bit of an anomoly given that Anzac day is on a Friday. If it were any other weekday, you would hardly be getting any teams applying to host an ANZAC Day clash, because it would limit their teams preparation for the following week.
I think the smartest thing the SAAFL could have done would have been to nip this in the bud early during December and January when the majority of these requests would have been submitted. When the requests were flooding in they should have put a limit on the number of games there and then.
The day is at risk of being cheapened, especially if there are hardly any reuests to play on ANZAC Day mid-week in years to come.

How do Pt Districts & Seaton feel after approaching the league last year for their ANZAC DAY battle & getting the nod of approval for a continual event providing their both in the same division, to only now have the game abolished.
What a f*&#'n joke!
When a club ( Pt Dist ) make so much $$$ on the day, its only fair the League stands by the agreement, made in 2007 & follow through with it & give Seaton the opportunity in 2008 to make a profit on a game which got plenty of support from both clubs & was a huge success.
No,No, No- the League has proved once again how pathetic & unproffessional they are by naming Seaton Vs Henley on ANZAC DAY, what the ****?

whats your problem though mercy as seaton still get a home game - henley have to miss out on the money and seaton get it. thought that seaton could have taken a back seat this year and someone like henley could host it. seaton cant have the anzac day match every year mate. last year they had it and this as well. you say districts did good job last year and make good coin, seaton have car park and make 4 grand each afl game, so smaller clubs like henley or smosh should get these games to make some money

You have no idea knightrider, 4 grand my a$$.
I couldn't give 2 fu### about Henley buddy, what i was saying, it was agreed to that both Seaton & Pt Dist could make this an annual event ANZAC DAY providing they are both in the same Division.
I'm not knocking any other club playing ANZAC DAY, not at all, not all clubs are going to pull the crowds like these 2 clubs did last year.
If you prove to the League what a great success it was ( being there knightrider you would understand ) pulling 3000 people, surely you'd think the League would follow through with it the next.
Once again knightrider, not all clubs that host an ANZAC DAY clash, will be as successful as what these 2 sides produced, their rivalry is important to the comp.

Who says im from henley? - just said that Seaton are playing Henley at Seaton, so Seaton will make coin anyway. What has the Thebarton Oval got to do with it and Henley getting proceeds?

NM, being given a verbal agreement from anyone won't hold water unless the people making the agreement are honorable, we know that's not always the case with the SAAFL. A few in there have selective memory loss at times to suit, have witnessed it many times.

My Apologies. was not aware of verbal agreeement of the ANZAC Day match between Port Districts and Seaton and with the Amateur League. If that be the case where the 2 clubs and the League agreed last yeaar, I can see Mercys point of view and can see how Port District can be not happy about it. I agree that the honour of the League should have been upheld then and the Seaton/Districts game go ahead. Which exec did they go to at Amateur League? - does anyone know who at Amateur League gave them the green light last year? - hopefully it was not "Basil" again.

I believe Henley won the tender for catering rights at Thebby.. I could be wrong though.

I believe that Seaton and Districts were not programmed for ANZAC Day because they SAAFL have got them playing on the 10th of May, the AFL Rivalry Round
