the Bombers were pretty ordinary last year and will be no better this year.

What is the website for checking clearances?

Any tips on who will be the frontrunners this year. My guess is that Two Wells will be the big improvers with plenty of recruting going on. Hummocks to be around the mark with Balak as always whilst United and Mallala should be up there again. You never know what Virginia are going to throw up from one year to the next either. Hamley Bridge appear to have lost their best 3 players (Harvey, Byster, Lowe) so you wouldn't expect them to be anything special.

All that being said there are 6 genuine chances with only 4 finals spots which will make for a very interesting and hotly contested season.

Rooster - Shaun Nicholas that you guys recruited, is he the same bloke that played for Virginia about 4 years ago. If it is thats a very handy pickup!

Well, whats the opinion from the new kid on the block, Mythical Creature on the who will be the font runners this year. My prediction for top four will be United, Hummocks, Mallala and Two Wells with Balaklava a very close 5th. And most importantly your opinion on tommorrows big fixture at IGA Stadium at Mallala. We need not another fence sitter on here this season!

My opinion for you old timer donkey on this season in order of finishing goes like this. United, Two Wells, Mallala, Viginia, Hummocks, Balaklava and Hamley a distant last. I beleive as stated earlier that this season will be the closest in recent history from 1st to sixth but as you have asked I have put my aggots on the line and only time will tell if I'm accurate or not.
Before people jump all over me with my placing of Balak and Hummocks in particular I will go through team by team as I see it.
United - Much the same as last year losing Calyun but gaining Graham plus rumoured to have another player or two from Salisbury West to bring more toughness to the side.
Two Wells - Always improving and with a few quality additions to their side as they seem to have recruited well will make them particularly dangerous at the start of the season due to fitness which will get them into the top four. Youthful exuberance will get them to the GF and perhaps a flag.
Mallala - Although losing Hollit, Francis and Fitzgerald (so far) they have a lot of good youngsters to step up and the return of Birchmore will help. They are rumoured to have a few good recruits and are throwing a fair bit of cash around which will get them a quality ruckman. Also allowed an additional import from last year (a very big quirk in the system which has caused lots of angst from other clubs) so will be around the mark again.
Virginia - Obvious improvers with high profile coach and at least 3 top line imports. Will make finals and possibly go further.
Hummocks - Dynasty could be over. Loss of Valentine is big and have no CHB. Barr not around and Chivell injured. No Arnold up forward hurt them at end of last year. Will still be very competitive though and would be a 50/50 finals chance in my book.
Balaklava - Similar side to last year at this stage but will lose some depth due to B Grade retirements. At this stage J Walker out new publican in. Will be competitive but their new guernsey wont see finals this year.
Hamley Bridge - As stated previous post, loss of Harvey, Byster and Lowe puts a massive hole in their side. At this stage will be the easy beats unless their recruiting officer can pull about 5 rabbits out of his hat.

As for the big game at the MCG (Mallala Cricket Ground) tomorrow like last year it will be close like last year, but if Earl and Daniel can grab another 4 wickets each then anything is possible. The smart money is on the Bridge but having Long Plains in my heart I hope Johnny comes home to the Tower. If that happens I can guarantee that I'll be at the tower tomorrow night having a steak sanga with you. Hopefully this year you don't run out of batting partners again donk.

Geez!!!! Tell us what you really think creature!

Just on the extra import for Mallala. In fact Mallala has on less than it had last year, however the club and three other clubs applied to get the reduction lifted and it was granted. So in a nutshell they are allowed the same as last season.

PS The steakies are $3 each mate. Dont be afraid to introduce yourself tomorrow night.

Time will tell creature but not a bad summary. HWE also lost Dylan Catty from their backline for this year at least and possibly for good so will really struggle down back.

You asked me to not sit on the fence so I gave my opinion as I see it. Any of the top six could finish in any order to be realistic so I just had a stab. I would encourage everyone on this forum to try their final 4 or 7 and see how we go. Not everyone will agree with mine but thats why we are all different.

I forgot about Catty unknown so thanks for the reminder

PS: $3 steakys sounds like a bargain, so spare me about 3 of them. No sauce though.

United look the goods, but will have to take the next step. Been to many pre-season favourites for too long. Balak will be better under A.Michael in 2008, The signs at Hamley dosnt look good, and Virginia will produce no surpises.

Interesting to see that most of the predictions are similar.

Start you are correct about United being preseason favourites for a long time, but maybe it might be put down to how consistently green the oval is at this time of year!

Apparently there is a layer of concrete just under the surface though, superb for cricket and great for removing 90% of you skin while playing footy. Nah oval is in great nic given the lack of rain to soften it up. Would be no better country ovals in the state at the moment than Mallala, with Long Plains a close second.

Balak is also in good knick at the moment, hosted all finals for the Stanley Cricket comp as is only decent oval in the comp (Clare & Districts) which Lower North C.C. (Balak) won on Saturday.
