SHould be a good hit-out.

Sadly for SMOSH, they're lacking a gun player due to cricket Grand Final Commitments.

Might head down for a look mate, got the night off this Wednesday...

your not playing for points so why does it matter??!!

to much emphasis on trials..they proove nothing imo..i would actually rest the guns in trials

I think the "guns" still need some sort of hit out maybe 1 or 2 quarters per trial.

Agree totally Hawk

3 games on Anzac Day, a little overboard??? I can see how they have tried to make it local 'showdowns' if you will, but surely 1 game between either the grand finalists last year or maybe a Broadview V Gaza, or TTG V Gepps, both proven for big crowds, would be a bit easier. But i spose its a well done for getting the idea up and running.

No mention of a Seaton v Pt Districts game Shirtfront?
If i stand correctly last years Anzac Day clash drew 3000 people, am i right?
I'm not sure of many clubs drawing that sort of crowd to an Amateur game.

Seaton are playing Henley, at Seaton NM.

NM, no Anzac day game will pull anything more than the normal crowds if the SAAFL allows it to be as they have for 2008.

Refer to my post on the subject of Anzac day games, 1 per grade is ample but the SAAFL now must set the format of either the GF replay or similar. This year has become a farce, without question!!!!

I'm hearing you Rupert, I understand what your saying.
The Amateur League as i've stated numerous times couldn't run a chook raffle.
Sounds like their letting all clubs do as they please, some clubs will find out the hard way.
Pt Dist last year were superb in their promotion of the game, preperation of the game & their overall catering before & after the game, i just hope Seaton can do exactly the same this year, what it comes down to is EVERYONE on the BOARD needs to role their sleeves up & make an effort, not leave it to the same old same old like they do week in week out.

Don't know about GF replays for SAAFL Rupert, mainly because the 2 teams going up aren't going to necessarily be the game of the round, if that makes sense? ie: SMOSH v Athelstone would not make a good Anzac day clash in div 2, Athelstone and PNU WOULD though as they are old enemies. (sorry for not using a div 1 example but Districts and Seaton would make the perfect game, so it defeated my purpose).. if a club can make a few extra bucks by moving a game to Anzac day then so be it I reckon.

A game we had v Athelstone a couple of years back had over 2000 and it wasn't even a final, nor was it ANZAC Day. If a div has rivalries, let them play on ANZAC Day, after all, that was the ANZAC tradition is about, battles with the old foe.

very disappointing Districts arent playing seaton. The 2 clubs had agreed to swap the games. Both clubs requested it this year and the SAAFL didnt program it. I know districts will be writing a letter to Shadiac expressing their disappointment. Why dont they program every game on ANZAC day and the whole div have a weekend off?

FC, a fair comment you have made on the subject. My issue is with the way the SAAFL has allowed this to snowball into becoming almost anormal programing rather than something that should be an organised privilege for clubs to play in. Now they have Thebbie oval, maybe something can be done there for a couple of divisions, as long as they share the games around between all divisions and those who would like to play a game there.
Food for thought but it's going to need a lot of thinking through by the wise men of the SAAFL. Not sure they will be able to do it and please everyone.

NM, spoke with a guy today who has seen the mock up of the new Footy Budget that we are not allowed to discuss anymore.

Very impressive was the word, his club has committed to advertising in it so it must be okay if it gets the tick from this bloke

Can anyone convince me that Luke Woodcock formally from West Croydon now @ Henely, is in fact a gun!! Because all i see is a case of the "old big fish in a little pond" senerio! I remember seeing him kick 9 goals playing from the midfield in Div 6, but im just not convinced!! Maybe its just me, but he looks like he sould be playig table tennis not A1 foote. :o
