Before all the vultures circle on it!

Yes we know Portlock needs to play to benefit from the heat and expected weight loss!

I reckon they will have a few slip ups, Strath and Compass, Creeks and maybe another loss to Enc Bay.

Limb-no draws this year mate.

Can almost guarantee he wont be playing this Saturday. Along with Carnas, Hamsy and maybe a couple of others.

A plus to this is it gives another couple of our younger up and comers a chance to play, on a big stage and show Baz something. Its what 'Trial' games are for and yes both clubs will take it seriously, but in the end its our first trial and winning these games is nice (in this case it seems to be a lot more important) but in the end we are trying to get things right for Rd 1.

Lets hope whatever the result either club is not ridiculed or bagged for want of a better word if they do indeed get beaten soundly. I dont think an honest take on which side is better coming in to finals from the first trial can be taken from the weekends match however as we all know both clubs have had an extremely good run of late and both are keen as mustard for this to continue in 08.

Hay BJ any chance of the new recruit for Cove playing? Whats the update on Ben Baxters GPS miles and is he likely to suit?

I see the Saints have picked up a number of players from down Penola way. How are they fitting in down there? Any reasonable players in that list? I know 1 of them was around the mark for Port Maggies before destroying his knee!!!

Not sure on Bomber, hopefully he does play as Hamsy wont be so a handy replacement there!

Ben Baxters GPS Miles are off the chart, the man doesnt know when to stop. Mind you if you did that many U-Turns in a game ur numbers would be up aswell!

Just a quick note: The Saints finished stone motherless last year! Wouldn't think they would be 3rd Eagle!

i think the saints will be a very strong contender this year aslong as they can keep their local lads interested unlike other years when players half way through the year find better things to do. This is not helped by the saints form in the past couple of years, i mean who likes getting wholloped week in and out.

From what i have heard the saints have recruited very well and almost too well, think they have exceded their points, this said, id rather recruit to well than not enough like some clubs have.

Heard Victor, Bays and mypo have have pre season numbers drop off!

Compass
Creeks
Strath
Bays
Mclaren
Saints
Victor

I agree Skinner all this talk of the saints to finish top 5 and some suggest top 3 is getting a bit carried away, yes it sounds like they have got some good recruits but what is their depth like if injurys come into it?? From memory LF said it along time ago that the saints were recruiting for future years not just this coming one so i dont think they would be expecting to go from bottom too top 5, or 2 wins too 11 just yet. They have seen what happened to the bays last season when they tried to buy a top 5 position and now are left with not a great deal, Saints will be all about retaining this coming seasons group of players and building on it every season.
Its a long road from the bottom of the ladder to the top and anyone that tries to take a short cut always ends up choking and falling back down only to have to start all over again.

True Kappers , that is why i think Compass will do great . They have been around the mark for a couple of years , retained most of their list and added to it . A prime example of what is needed to climb up the ladder .
Good luck to all teams , but only 5 can make the finals .
