I think the interesting team is Ramblers, not much has been discussed about them on here. Apparently Jackson is staying with the Chooks, haven't heard if Morris is staying, i presume he is?? Crossy obviously has gone, but haven't heard who else if any. They've picked up a guy from the BLG league, but haven't heard much else about them at all.

yeah i havnt heard much either. no one is really talking about any player losses or gains. the only talk i have picked up was about the big fellah from the bank training with them. i guess there must either be nothing much happening or people dont really care...
perhaps we can pencil in the chooks for another early finals exit this year.....

What does everyone think of the new points system being introduced? I guess it's there to try and even things out over the next 3-5 years but is it the right system?
There are different points systems around different leagues and to be honest out of all of them I think the Barossa Light and Gawler league have the best one. It's not only based around how high you finish on the ladder but also your georgraphical postion on the map. For example teams in Murray Bridge wouldn't get as many points compared to a team like Mannum who aren't exactly a well populated town and is further out than Murray Bridge. Being further away from Adelaide and any major town definitely makes it harder to recruit, therefore giving them a couple of extra points will benefit these clubs.
Thoughts?

as far as i am aware that is how the points system operates in the RMFL. Meningie will always get extra points (unsure if tailem, mypo and mannum will also but dont think so and agree that it would be a great idea) and points are changed each year depending on where you finish -in the minor round, the previous year.

also have not heard any confirmation of morris heading over to the west coast

So Floataboy, how true is it do you think that the ruckman Webb from Mypo has headed out to Murrayville?

dunno for sure. all i heard was that he was considering a move out there, then i read on the mallee forum that they had signed a new ruckman. so one could assume that it is the case?? :?

Just confirmed on the Mallee thread that Webb has left Mypolonga for Murrayville, so Mypo will be on the look out for a ruckman if Webb was their first prefernce in ruck.

Bayliss' move up to Jervois is starting to pay off for him. Are there any big blokes that can compete with him up there?

yeah there isnt a lot.
mannum struggled for talls last year and had brad wakefield playing out of position in the ruck, imps had a couple of young fellas- they were big, but not really talented. i also think they had a really tall fellah, someone roberts, but again not overly talented. tailem were the same, a big strong young fellah with not a huge amount of talent. Ramblers had a good ruckman in james dalwood but i think he has left? mypo had chris webb but it looks as though he is gone, they still have pedler who used to ruck for them, unsure of his age now though, could be getting on. meningie had adam morris who was pretty handy but now he has left so who knows who the bears have in ruck.
so yeah, it looks as though jervois have the wood in the rucking stakes

Yeah Tailem had Gabb, who i believe hadn't played for a few years since playing juniors in the Southern League. From all reports, did a fairly reasonable job.

Imps apparently have a ruckman who's played a bit at West Adelaide, may not have played for a few years?? but should be handy in RMFL.

Mypo will miss Webb if he leaves, likewise Dalwood at Ramblers if hes gone. I think Ramblers other ruckman was a young guy Pfeiffer.

Morris is a huge loss to Meningie.

I hear Morris has been one of the best ruckman going around the RMFL alongside Baxter for the last 3 or 4 years, would that be a fair assumption?

Yeah, I think there will be a few clubs around with pretty young ruck stocks this year… Usually the young blokes go ok at the centre bounces but when it comes to body on body work, this will be where experienced guys take the edge.
