Found the reason for refusing the clearance mildly amusing.

We have seen a lot of MP players cleared to Adelaide prior to season commencing, only to have them cleared back during the year. My gut feel is that MP think they will be alright this year, so there will be immense pressure placed on (probably already) Wes to remain and be part of it.

subs..... I havent heard of subs being paid in football ever.... and I can assure you they would not pay subs at MP.....
Every year we hear this about WB and I know where he will be a couple of games into the season..... at MP....
MP should be competative... Mooney is possibly the best forward on EP when on song.... and if you get supply from JB JT DWx2 WB KB CMcK it could be party time.... Richard Miller will enjoy not being the main focus up forward.... chuck in Rusty and Philip D and you have a potent forward line....and the youngsters can grow an extra leg if things get up and running and the loose man is created...... write the peckers off at your own peril.....

They probably get deducted from the first wins payment at LS grub, all clubs have subs, don't they?

Not sure what LS would have done in 2000 though.....

Billyo will never get a clearance. Imagine how much he would owe

We do actually...and have used the unfinancial reason for donging clearances in the past. Just cant imaging MP using it.

Funny side story was asking Jack the other day "Where's Mooney?"...Jacks reply..."where he always is...at home on the lounge flicking the remote control"...is potentially the laziest forward on the EP as well

we do have subs and the same statement is made every year during pre-season "if you dont pay your subs you are not covered medically and EVERY player is required to pay them before they can pull on a jumper in the minor round blah blah blah"
Most players do pay them i believe, but there is some blokes who dont most years and Im betting the club never retrieves the accumulating money. Its not on, definitely for the blokes that pay every year ](*,)

This would happen every where I assume....

80 bucks a player.. to be played by about mortlock time... cammy comes out about that time at a training and reminds those blokes that havent payed them... the threats is normally made , that without payment you cant play .ive payed mine for the last 7 years... its especially important in GF, where we have no pokies and the club is generally only open 1 or 2 nights a week..

cougers subs or membership $60 paid before mortlock. very important to us at the start of the year because our bar takings at cummins home games are very low compared to kapinnie.
HS, lock should be a force this year, they finished 4th last year with an old side but they have a new coach (a fitness freak) and already have 3 or 4 "a graders" coming into the side. one of them is sam britza who will be a mortlock player.

I heard they cleared a Russ from Tumby to Yeelana. Whats he like?

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

Well looks like my predictions with the charlton platter and waving the white flag in the business end of the season were spot on! what a joke! :Hangman: i guess tod river are all quality though! :vom: Any excuses bystander? what did you boys get up to saturday night to forgot the day? or judging by the result did you boys all get on it friday night? :supz: Any antics from horgan this week?

Close game at centenary with SES lucky to get over the line against souths. A top 70 odd from reidy but smithy made 60 odd to steer SES home late in the innings. comments from the game eags?

All the ray white talk is the biggest load of crap and ploy to fish around for coin. every club thinks they are really close with these guys with getting pen to paper. and i reckon the clubs would be getting pretty anxious in getting that signature soon as everybody is starting to get wary of lincoln south who could just open up the cheque book at any time and it will be game over.

I'm sorry, but i don't understand what the point is in paying players in country footy.
I mean, what can all of that money achieve? A COUNTRY premiership....
Seems fairly pointless to me...

Would be unlike LS to be this far down the track without opening the cheque book.

Also I see in the Sunday Mail that darren Bennett is coaching LSFC this year. Must have cost a penny to get him back from the NFL.

Yeah it did get pretty close and we tried bloody hard to lose it at the end!! Reidy batted really well and Orch looked in good nick until he shouldered arms to Stiffy. We didn't bowl very well at all ... thought Loudo was probably the pick of our bowlers ... beat the bat plenty of times but didn't pick up a wicket. Stiffy started poorly but came good by his 3rd or 4th over. Greasy was the pick of the Souths bowlers with 4fer. Probably the best deck I've ever played on at Centenary so hopefully he can keep that standard up for the rest of the finals.

Obviously haven't played in many sas... :? However if your point was that some average footballers get paid an above average amount of money to play...well then that is a different matter.

Will we see the return of the place kick for goal.
Can anyone actually remember seeing these executed.
On the same subject I wonder if there have been any stats done on the conversion rate of the place kick in the rugby codes compared to AFL. Hazarding a guess I reckon Rugby would be in front.
