Credit should go to the administrators at the different clubs. They are the ones that deserve the credit. What, the league should hang its hat on one weekend a year, which has now been cut down from Lovelock Shield (2 games) to just one and a finals series where the host club has to do all the work. It's those workers that are the strength of the GSFL.

We have woolen association jumpers so they dont get pinched. As for Jurek, a couple of the Saints older brigade had a chat to him recently and he made it clear that it was all about the money if he couldn't play league.

Geez it appears as though Victor Harbor dont take too kindly to anyone trying to leave their club, they have refused every single clearance request that has come through so far!
Pretty sure that they did the same last year as well...

The only way a clearance can be refused is if a player isn't financial with the club. That's the information I've been given. Otherwise the league over-rules and the clearance goes ahead. Inform me if I am wrong...

No, you are right Rock. At this time of the year, I think a window of 5 weeks a clearance can only be refused because of financial means, which is fair. You cannot put on the clearance required player during that period, which I think runs out at the end of the month. If a player owes a club money or he is contracted his obligation is at the club he is trying to leave. I wonder is if that is the reason Heath and Heubners' clearances have been refused? It is a policy at all clubs never to release a player who owes money, I would reckon.

Anyone else on here seen the new gurnsey mclaren have applied for? I seen 3 or 4 different ones last night that they are seeking opinions on and they all look terrible. The main one was dark blue and had a one red and one yellow band running from the shoulders down to the lower part of the gurnsey like a 'V'. and the other are not even worth trying to explain.

This apparently is cancelled out if the player has signed a contract above and beyond his clearance and registration form which in turn means any club can rightly hold that play until the contract expires. A recent example of this was a player by the last name of Danielle who is a former Hills B&F or Mail Medalist and played for Kangarilla in 06, he had signed a contract to play in the 07 season for Kangarilla then early 07 applied for a clearance to the BL&G league. Kangarilla refused this due to being a contracted player in which Danielle sat the 07 season out.

They should worry about changing their logo/emblem! It's fair to say we all know who the real Eagles are!

kappars McLaren are known as the Eagles, comes from when they merged with McLaren Flat a few years ago who used to be the Eagles. I think McLaren Vale were originally called the Crushers if I'm correct?

That's correct. There was rumours that the club was going to go back to the nickname Crushers, due to the fact that Encounter Bay are already the Eagles, but the Flat connection kicked up a bit of a stink about losing their identity.
