Hahndorf have broken the bank. How can they afford Bishop, Howman and Nicholas on top of Cooper and Kaesler? That equals big $$$$$. Would that be the most spent by any team?

If they didn't pay much last year, maybe they can afford it this year..

What about Ironbank, the Wizard could be a chance to propel them into finals calculations??

Who has Mt Barker picked up for this year?

Rooster, I would have to say you must have no idea of what is really going on in the hills posting a top five like that.
Ironbank played finals last year and have picked up 4 or 5 very good recurits and you have them out of the five.

Onkas better team than last year with some inclusions that have signed for sure.

Only change possible at this stage would be Harndorf for Blackwood as Blackwood have lost a couple. Mt Barker will be better but still a couple of players away.

For that statement Birwood dark horse ( maybe you guys are getting ready for next year already).

I think Rooster meant it will be another Dark Year at Birdwood. Definitely not a Dark Horse when your improvement is buying half a Dozen average 'A' grade Footballers. As one of Birdwood's 'A' grade footballers said recently 'Why would we wanna go back to Country Div, when we'd get our Butts Kicked in that grade too!'

Uraidla
Onkas
Lofty
Hahndorf

Hey Cougar, who are these half a dozen average A graders that they're buying?

Uraidla
Onkas
Ironbank
Mt Lofty
Blackwood

Hahndorf to miss out - not sure if they'll have the depth to make the five.

i left ironbank out on purpose... in my opinion of the teams that thoroughly kicked our arse, and i concede they were many, i thought ironbank where the most average. mt.lofty and uraidla were a big step above, and im thinking hahndorf with the addition of 4 or 5 league standard players will be very hard to beat. blackwood and onkas were pretty similar standard i thought, and ironbank were just below them, mt.barker of course around the mark aswell.

cougar...true we get our arses kicked in div 1, and maybe we would only be middle of the road in div 2 (dont know about that), but id still rather be at a club with juniors, numbers, an oval, and playing in a decent competition!

Yeah, I agree. They have definitely picked up some excellent players but if one or two of these get injured I just don't think they have the depth to cover them.

Cooper and Kaesler aren't getting any younger.

It should be the closest competition in years i'm tipping. The cabbage cutters certainly won't go undefeated during the home and away season. Onkas, Hahndorf and Mt Ronnie will be very competitive, as will the devils. Ironbank of all that's been said about them would want to improve so should be a chance to snatch a top 3.
Top 5 could consist of anyone in any order apart from the pbvious:
Lobey - won't win a game, will get pumped by 50 goals in one game i'm tipping.
Birdwood - will win 2 games.
Bridgewater - average but competitive
Blackwood - bottom four.

Bring on the season

hey, hats off to Ironbank for making the 5 in '07 after bottom in '06 was a great effort, no doubt about it. i'm just saying of the top tier teams, in my opinion, after playing against them, i thought ironbank weren't on the same level.
i also think hahndorf are gonna be real tough to beat with 5 SANFL players added.
maybe ironbank with more new recruits will prove me completely wrong... i do believe im entitled to an opinion though!

nothing personal against ironbank from div 2 days... i save those sentiments for the brookers! cue cougar.

uraidla
onkas
my lofty
ironbank
hahndorf

mt barker
blackwood
raiders
loby
birdwood

reckon that the 5 this year could be in any order.
my suprise i think will be ironbank. i reckon that they will play in the preliminary frinal this year at the very least. they hav a good young side and with more quality recruits can only get better
even with lofty's departures they still have quality players including birch and stapleton returning.
