I had a f****d shoulder and returned, it was at the back of my mind until......... I got a big knock (Even though I still felt a huge crack) and it was fine then after that.Mind you I still cant lift my left arm as high as I used to.Probably should get it checked

playing div 10's for POS against Unley in 2000. Worse day ever, wet, cold, almost hailing/sleet, disgusting and just had that feeling something was going to go wrong.

in the goal square, went to pick up the ball and some dude from the other team went the boot, i heard a crack or some dodgy noise and thought, 'oh, someone has done something here' looked at my thumb a sec later and on my left hand, the thumb was bent back so the tip of it was touching my wrist, not around the side, but right back over on itself, looked terrible!!!

didnt hurt initially but on the ride to the hospital (no way was some 'medic' on a div 10 team was touching this) started to really ******* hurt. had to put me under to fix it, was out the rest of the season, about 10 weeks. (but i hung around to do boundary).

had to get it right for cricket season ;)

Plus, not long after that, i had my right thumb snapped by a bouncer...long story.

so now i have the weakest thumbs in history and they still give me worry.

Playing ammos many years back Vs Kilburn at Kilburn (always a game one looked forward to!!). Kilburn FF managed to snap his ankle to such an extent there was bone protruding through his sock. was not a pretty sight. To make matters worse, he didn't black out with the pain, but hollered and heaved as they carted him off. About 15 mins later you heard him again screaming at the top of his voice as they loaded him onto the ambulance. Was not a nice experience. About 10 mins later another Chick player is carried off with a knee injury to be met with a loud voice from the Mound Men "C'mon Kilburn, thats 2 of you guys carted off - even it up". Just the words one wants to hear when playing at Blair Athol!

Personal injury - despite broken ankles, noses & ribs - the worst I've ever felt is when playing in the twighlight of my career in a lower grade, I arrived with a monumental hangover (normally ones gets an extra 2 hours recovery time when playing seniors, but I was in the reggies). Convinced the coach that on the bench was my spot, and even stayed there at let our mob toil away with 17 players for a bit. Had my first spit running onto the ground! Despite hangover, I read the play beautifully, thus ended up an the opposite side of the ground to the ball at virtually every opportunity. Alas, my good fortune ended when a slick handball came my way which I eventually grabbed at my 3rd or 4th attempt, only to be beset upon by all 18 opposition players. Left winded, stunned and confused - I just sat on the ground, vomitting/dry-retching for the next 5 mins whilst team-mates and opposition pissed themselves laughing. Think I made it into the shower where I stayed for about 2 hours. Episode even made it onto the clubs "official" injury list!

Great Story, you have to love the Mound Men!

Reminds me of my first year out there playing Henley who were a ten goal better team than everyone else in div 2 that year. We got within a couple of goals and had momentum when my mate Macca from college breaks his ankle.

Danny Ryan: "Get up Macca! Get up!"

Silly prick tried to get up too but fell over again.
