I would think most players would want to play for us with what we have to offer. How can Eyre United seriously compare with what we can offer a young footballer?

If you are going to keep things consistent, yesterday there was a post that one of the Franklin boys was playing B's for Cowell, yet by the sounds of things Waybacks see him as an A grader. Does this mean therefore mean Eastern Eyre is a stronger league than PL?

In regard to the PL/GF standard, it really is a little hard to compare given the standard of teams within each league. GF had Tumby dominate last year, PL had MR dominate. Therefore naturally you'd expect guys who were playing B's in these clubs to probably get an A grade gig at lesser clubs from opposing leagues.

while your pointing out milestones, this is my 2000 post.

For it I'll say that on the cricket front Jules Doudle will probably be out for the rest of the season. Had an accident on the farm when some fuel sprayed out of something covering his leg, leg was then ignited by the muffler of the ute he was standing alongside. Is currently in Adelaide getting treatment, apparently is not too flash!!

All the best for a good recovery djd......

on the footy front, don't know why the old argument about lincoln and GF footy always goes on. standard of both leagues changes yearly. the argument of lincoln b graders playing As in GF maybe true but i played with spud taylor at lock and he was awful! but changing clubs obviously helped him and it helps other too.
on the playing surfaces, centenary is ok, tumby is brillant with lock and cummins not far behind and wudinna is probably the best.

You make a very good point eags. That is why Lincoln B Graders get a game in Eyre United's A Grade.

Must work both ways djd. Spud was a very good player for Souths and someone you had to worry about. Another bloke you do rate highly from Lock that went to LS on the other hand.....

Oval surfaces, Tumby is very good and I'd have to have Wangary up there as well. In winter it is near on faultless....

Haven't seen any posts claiming he will be an A grader, HS just indicated Waybacks have signed him. Let's wait till he's played a few games hey...

And eags, no one from Waybacks has made a reference to the lads being A grade or B grade...just commented on an out of order remark by superveteran. Don't try and involve us in this argument.

panther you must be talking about gary hetzel. i will admit he didn't have a good time of it at souths. he was, is a champion in GF, 6 (a record for the club) BnFs for lock and finished runner up on numerous times in the mail medal and played well in the EP games he played in. i think gazza was one of those players shouldn't have moved away from his home club where he is comfortable with the surrounds and has a love for his footy club. as i said before a change can be good for a player and obviously bad. remember he still played for LC that year in mortlock and kicked 5 from a pocket in the first game. perhaps thats where he should have played for souths!!!

So if Hetzel had have played in a forward pocket for souths he wouldnt have got a kick anyway as the ball never went down there. He was the most over-rated recruit they have ever paid big money for, with possibly Able to take over the mantle if he doesnt dominate this year.
And bluestheboy you started all this about A grade standard players, dont try and weasel your way out of it (excuse the pun)

Hetzal seemed to get a lot of his footy behind the ball. Problem was that at LS he had to cue up behind OBrien and Snake.
Probably not allowed to go forward...might have cramped dazzas style.

Centenary is the cream of EP football.

I don't think so, bit of rain it becomes a mudbath.
Hardly creamy.
The best i have played on on EP was Rudall, at it's best it had the right hardness, good grass covering and reasonable protection from the wind.
The Cummins oval wasn't too bad either.
Although that would get sloppy after a good rain.
The Tumby oval was also alright from memory.
Best surface on EP tho would have to be Cleve Area School.
If any ground could replicate that turf they would be doing well!!

And Gary Hetzel is vastly respected in EP footy from what i know.
I wouldn't label him a dud.
