WEIGHT
______________
Does the weight of a reinsman affect the chances of a horse ?
Talked to a very prominent trots personality who says it does
He says if the same driver is on the same horse no prob
However he does notice a difference when there is a driver change
FOR EXAMPLE
FATSO CARATZO weighs 100 kgs
HOLLYWOOD HARDING weighs 70 kgs
Forgeting the abilty factor, how much difference does the weight make ?
I have been told anything up to 1 metre per 1 kilo.

INTERDOMINION
_____________
I believe there is a new format this season
Can anyone brief me what changes there are in the heats
Is it still the Best and Toughest or is it now the Best and Fairest

its hardly teh best and fairest- barrier draws now have much more impact on who will go through to the finals as all heats are knockout. last weekend we saw be good johhny knocked out on that back of a poorish run but he did draw outside the back row. this week we have a heat winner in report for duty in a poor position to make it through to the finals purely on barrier.

bring back the traditional format

MAL- wakey wakey.
Whats with the "I BELIEVE theres a new format". Didnt you realise they ran heats last weekend and if you didnt run in the 1st 4 or 5 you are OUT.
There were 4 horses that were "seeded" as such and went straight thru to this weeks Semi's -Blacks A Fake, Safari, Smoken Up and Robin Hood.
Like most people, I dont agree with the change in format as I believe the Interdom has stood the test of time and only top horses are successful.

ADVERTISER 21/02/08

PLEA TO BRING BACK OLD INTERDOMINION
ADAM HAMILTON
________________________________________________________________________________
Brian Hancock has pleaded with Brisbane to revert to the traditional Interdominion forMATT next year.
" Call me a traditionalist if you like, but I know a lot of people agree with me on that there's nothing wrong with the forMATT of 3 rounds of heats into the final." he said.
" Sure the Interdominion needed a kick a long but promote it better, don't change the forMATT.
Harness Racing Victoria this year replaced the 3 rounds of qualifying heats with heats, semi final and Grand final structure.
It is possible for a horse to win the Interdominion final by contesting just 2 races in the series.
" Tradition is something you cant buy in sport and weve got it with the Interdominion.Lets get back to it next year." he said
_________________________________________________________________________________

My views irrespective of who thinks and says what IS
The forMATT must reward the best horse not the best and toughest horse
This years change in forMATT might be the answer ?

MAYZ quite rightly made comments on luck of the draw etc
Perhaps award starting points to horses drawn the second line ?
That would be horses drawn 7-8-9-10 start with 1 point each [or more]
Barrier 7 is a good draw sometimes so perhaps 8-9-10
Just a thought.

Maybe a heat like the miracle mile
split the heats, have double the races
and have all horses of the front line
FoR example
I heat = 10 runners barriers 1-10
replaced by
2 heats= 2 races 5 runners drawn 1 to 5
just a thought

Just shows how dedicated I am to Adelaide trots
I dont bet on Inerdominion races and guess
I didnt even watch the heats

As for the seeded horses getting thru to semis without running
THAT IS ABSOLUTE GARBAGE !!!! in my opinion

I actually like the new format (i'm one of the only ones - I know). Tradition this and that - get with the program, there are too many 'dead' heats these days where people don't try and win and a top alley heats into final would have people crying foul cause the best horse would draw the pole and it would be a boring final...

Other sports have made the transition, so why not Harness Racing?

Cricket sticks with tradition, there would be no one day cricket or 20 / 20
Footy sticks with tradition, no AFL, just VFL / SANFL etc...

Life is such that Harness racing needs to come along for the ride and attract a younger generation of punters and particpants, through it's flagship events - else it will end up like South Australia, where costs far outweigh any possible returns...

With Grand Circuit winners being given straight entry into Semis and 4 heats still being run, it gives more owners / horses a chance to live the dream and run in an interdom series (Road to Rainbow / Diamonds & Furs / Baltic Ice just to name a few) - which creates more competition and better racing, but that's just my view.
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

the only advantage i see in the automatic semi final entry is that in theory the good horses will chase the free pass so maybe better horses run in adelaide and hobart.

i have no problem with the series being for the best and toughest as being tough is an element of being a great horse. if the interdom tests toughness then in my opinion that is a good thing- the miracle mile tests speed s tough horses are disadvantaged there- if you wnat to see who is the best horse then perhaps a better grand circuit rankings system should be brought into play to judge the best horse over the entire season.

do not compare the miracle mile to an interdominion ffs, the mm is the biggest joke race of the year & it isn't even over a mile anymore & scd i'd prefer the tradition of football as it was not as it is
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Congratulations To Terry Hayes for getting up Shadesofsport up at good odds tonight.
Bayman did say a few months ago that he steers very well but never gets a good nag to drive.
The drive was excellent on the tight Gawler track
Bayman and I managed to win a few cents of it tonight

I read your posts religiously. So you're saying there's nothing I should throw my spare five dollars at today?

SUGGESTED BETS
maybe for sMALl interest bets

R3-7 EW
R8-8 EW

Ive got the fire R10
Im just wondering where the other gun tipSTARS are ?
I think SCD/BAYMAN are too upset over the lack of stewards action in dicey races
in recent times and have lost interest, and who can blame them?
If that sort of stuff happened every week, fair enough I would give trots away as well
However those dicey races are very occasional.

Good luck R10

it's pretty simple for me MAL....

I only have so much I spend a week - any winnings are withdrawn and payed of bills, so I have the same amount to spend every week.

I have a choice of what to bet on;

Happy Valley on a Wednesday night -where I win more often then I lose
NBA where i've been winning since I stopped doing form and just been following Dutchy & Brod
Melb Harness where races are run at genuine tempos most of the time and drivers are racing to win because of prizemoney levels make it worthwhile. I win as often as I lose....
Adel Harness where it's like chook lotto in terms of stewards decisions, horses are driven to get a price next week... And you back horses like Radiant Storm and Brother Moon and lose because of poor stewarding = not for me thanks...

They wonder why people have enough of it....
I have too many other winning options, where I get a go for my money - why would I waste money on races where I don't have confidence in what i'm betting on (and can't get on Betfair to lay favs on a Monday )

very well summed up SCD

sooner or later everyone will be like SCD and BAYMAN and there will be no betting on GLOBE DERBY............except for the LATE MAL which will end up betting into a win/place pool which is the size of an any 2 pool now.

cheats on chariots

theres another reason why people arent investing time or money on the trots.
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!
