No BC, I'm not.
Kym unfortunately passed away about 10 years ago and I think he was still involved in some capacity at the Victor Harbor Football Club at the time of his death. Unfortunately for Maccy, the Smith boys won most of their mail medals at other clubs.
Brenton's son Kane has been a good player over the years for Strathalbyn but I think he suffered a bit from being the "son of".

I think the problem he had wasn't spotted early enough by himself and by the time he finally went and saw a doctor it was too late. Pretty sure he was only about 44 at the time but his death could have been as recent as 1998, I'm not exactly sure.
MIT80s, if you read this topic from page 1 you will see my thoughts on how it was at the time you would have played against Macclesfield.

Kym was a friend of my family's. I think it would have been about 4 to 5 years ago that he passed away. He had a particular type of cancer (cant remember exactly what it was), and then it was discovered (right at the end, so obviously too late) that he had had leukaemia for a while as well.

If that's the case, fair enough but I'd find it a bit hard to believe given that you know about the 3 clubs in the hills that he was involved with and you know a bit about the area that he was originally from as well.

Well I'm the first to admit that I'm not right up with it as he was well before my time and about the only two people who would have been at the club when I was there that played with Kim would have been Mick Elliott and Kingsley Handke and perhaps Joy Edwards.

odb, i have read a book with mail medalists etc in it. good book too!!
see some interesting results in the country div. didnt think kersbrook were that good.
long seasons for not only callington and nairne, but also maccy. i think it will be close between blackwood, kersbrook, echunga and birdwood for 4th and 5th spots.

I got 7 in the tips this week - missed Lofty in Central and Birdwood in Country, but otherwise pretty happy to get that. Think we are all guilty of underrating the Brookers at times, and Callington simply don't appear fit. Again.

Going on their result from the week before, I thought Nairne might get a good flogging from Kangarilla but to their credit they must have bounced back somewhat to only go down by 3 goals. Looks like Meadows will be the real deal given that it appears as though inaccurate kicking was the main reason for their narrow 5 point loss to flag favourite Torrens Valley.

I dont think Nairne will be too far away. And Blackwood havent played anyone of note yet! I dont think their Country team is as strong as last year, and quite a few other clubs appear a lot stronger.
Bottom four will be Callington, Macclesfield, Blackwood and either Echunga, or Nairne, given that Kersbrook win most of their home games.
Positions 4 to 7 will be very tight!

The Devils were once again to strong, and basically had a different list of best players than last week. Shows they are a good all-round team. Still have 3 or 4 quality players to come back into the A grade.
