If hes too old to play A's like you said then I doubt the Valleys would pay him. Heck I doubt anybody would pay him to be a B or C grade player.[/quote]
no i said HE asked valleys for the cash. valleys arnt that desp.not for him anyway, he wont play A s. hes been to about 10 diff saafl clubs in search of prem glory but i think has failed mis.

Is he still going?? Thought he'd be in a wheel chair by now. Wasn't he playing C's at PNU?? A div 1 premiership player 19 years ago at Greenacres if my memories correct.

sounds like him, but zanks is still a gun and still pretty fit for a little bugger... not sure if he played c s or a s at pnu last year but i think his last a grade g was in the imfamous sals w gf

I have no doubt he played A's at PNU,but not last year i'd think.last time I saw him playing was a C grade final for PNU at Kenilworth with Chris Munro (The only bloke I have ever seen drink piss at half time in the A's and go out and kick 10 in the 2nd half) at FF and Tim Hynd at CHF (Im waiting for Zedman to jump in here). Not a bad C grade if you ask me.

between Zanks and Munro, one of them should've played league footy.

Very talented footballers yes. Don't think an SANFL club would put up with a bloke (At least) drinking piss at half though

I remember a trial game at Golden Grove's old oval when he went over to his family (and esky) at half time instead of coming into the rooms with us. I thought it was quite amusing. Very talented footballer when he wants to be

If you expect Tony Zanker to play a's i'd be surprised,he's VERY experienced and would carve it up in the b's and c's.I personally think he'd be a bit slow for the A's now.

Zanks didn't play alot of footy in 2007 a number of reasons but did squeeze in 3 A grade games. (He was actually supposed to be the captain of the B grade and played 3 B grade games) One of the most nuggety players I've ever seen. He did play for Norwood u17's but as far as he's told me, never took it any further.

He's 40 now, not getting any younger and has had back problems since round 1 2005 when the usual suspects put him in hospital with a fracture in his back, so there is a bit of a history between them pre 05 GF.

If he has been training at Heccies or is playing there this year, i would say it's only cos he's just built a mansion  near the oval and has 6 kids to take care of, including a 6 month old.

Zanks is a top bloke and I love him to death, even though we have had the odd blue or two over the years. But good luck to him where ever he plays this year. He promised me he was going to retire when he turned 40 but then he had another kid last year and now reckons he's going to play until his youngest can watch him play (and remember it). Perhaps he thinks he'll last longer if he plays at a lower level!

He played divvy 6 10 years ago for Campbelltown/ Magill.Incidently a large proportion of PNU's players during recent years came from that div 6 club (I can think of Zanker and Stagg of the top of my head) but there was many more.........

Personally never rated Geoff Clarke, our defenders (Mitchard,Toffoli,Kerr) always ate him for breakfast.Mind you no shame in getting beaten by any of those players :D

Clarkey was in his prime in the 80's in the old SAFA days with Payneham, I guess 10 years ago he would have been beggining to slow down a bit. The last time he played A grade with PNU was in 2001, went missing after that. I cant remember where he went to play though.. back to Heccies? Para Hills comes to mind for some reason..

was one of those players caught up in the talent squeeze at norwood juniors in the mid 80's. neil balme had some sort of nonsense notion that players had to play 17's then 19's and reserves before being slowly blooded. this put many players off at the time.
zanker was hard and skilful - having watched some div 6 games last year, and if he's as fit as ever - he'll fit into most div 6 sides easily as his nous and natural ability would enable him to find the ball.

Yeah but is he? (I'll give you a clue, the answer is NO, well he IS 40!)But Zanks being Zanks just plays through it cos he's a hard nut. I think he will enjoy running around without the extra pressure, and he's obviously still got a few mates at Heccies as long as he's happy.. good on him! Hope you've got a good rub down person though

wouldn't know about trainers - at uni in the lower grades (c2) we really struggle to find any.
i played with him at payneham/norwood juniors during that period.
