Not sure how it compares to the Sopranos, as Underbelly is based on real events, much like Blue Murder, which also had a court injunstion against it for quite a while.

People in Victoria will be able to download it using torrents within hours of it showing anyway, Im sure they won't be too concerned.

The laws really are very antiquated.

Allegations of corruption against the NSW Police Force, featuring the relationship between Roger Rogerson & Nedddy Smith (criminal). Obviously there are others involved (crims: Chris Flannery, Steve Williams, Warren Lanfranchi, Sally-Ann Huckstepp- all deceased), an innocent Policeman Michael Drury was shot (he survived), allegedly, as a part of the corruption process.
Superb viewing, & a top Australian production.

If it's like Blue Murder, we'll be allowed to watch it in Victoria in about six years, once absolutely everybody is either dead or in jail.

You're suggesting I break a suppression order imposed by a lawful representative of our justice system

I may have to lie down for a while, to recover my composure.

depends what the suppression order implies in a legal sense- is it illegal for Victorians to access it via a web-site, or only to screen it on mainstream tv?

The show is supposed to be very close to the bone, so much that a lot of the real life crooks involved (those not dead) are coming out and denying a lot of what is depicted, which I reckon must mean it is goin to great!

Happy to be corrected, but in terms of the suppression order, I believe it relates to broadcasting. Downloading it via the net will not breach this.

Copyright laws on the other hand...

Article in today's paper states that its illegal for people in Victoria to download it. Same article says if channel 9's appeal on the ban fails, its "unlikely to screen in Melbourne before May".

the funnest thing is all the families that are involved are coming out in the herald sun and saying it is all fiction and most of the events are untrue and I wasn't like that. So I am wondering how close to the ball is this. Pity i cannot watch it.

The books are very good. Any time John Silvester's name appears in print in the Age, you should always read his stuff. Compelling reading and has led the pack by miles on this whole saga over a decade.
