Thats a big call there, Toughcall

Havnt heard much from Uraidla on here but you would assume they would be favourites, with lofty, onkas and IB not being too far off the mark.

Theres been a few of big name players come up from the city and find the HFL pretty tough, Trent Ormond Allen and Sudjai Cook are examples. Guess we will have to wait and see

Yes Hahndorf will be much more competitive and should push for a Top 3 position but early flag favourites? Their first 10 will be as good as anyone but it drops off rapidly after that. Their next 10 would struggle to get an A grade at a lot of clubs. Who knows what will happen with injuries as well. Bishop is a very good player but is as injury prone as they come.

Sorry don't know if it has been said this year but I heard at cricket that Damien Squire (ex Sturt/Port Power player) is playing at Hahndorf this year. Can anyone confirm or refute this? If it is true it would be a huge signing- might have even won a magarey medal a few years ago.

Squire was at Portland in the Western Border League last year, would've been on an obscene amount of money so Hahndorf may have to empty their pockets to get him, unless he just can't be arsed going to Victoria to play anymore...

I also heard this rumour on the weekend from a reliable source. Big coup not just for Hahndorf but for the HFL competition if it is the case.

Put down your glasses if Squire is joining Hahndorf. What a star studded outfit they will be. Squire will not come cheap. The bar will have to be busy 7 days a week to keep the coffers full this winter.

He is good mates with cooper I think it will be unlikely that he will play but it would be good for the league if Hahndorf becomes a force again, it has been 7 years since there last flag. There due

Hahndorf will be a force and Squire will be the icing of a cake that will have the best big men in the business. Bishop and Nicholas with Howman in defence, good luck to other teams in the HFL. Hahndorf can afford to fall away with its lack of depth. Their top 10 is as good as any in football outside the SANFL.

I totally agree they may have had only 3 or 4 good players last year but those players will grow a leg with these recruits around we all remember how good alf stevens was when Hahndorf was a strong team. should make for much more interesting league. Uris, lofty, Onkas, Ironbank, blackwood, Hahndorf all around the mark. ( not sure what mount barker have been upto) lots to look forward too.

Squires won't be at Hahndorf. They are happy with what they have - some clever recruiting, get the local boys back(Cooper, Kaesler, Bishop) and they bring a couple of mates. They stil have to get it together though and weren't good last year.
Loby having trouble recruiting. WIll be depending on local product and good old home town spirit.
Onkas quietly doing the job? Training going well.

With all the talent around the HFL in 08, you would hope an Association team will be fielded wouldn't you. It can be an indictment on the league when an association team cannot be represented. Bring back the old Lovelock Shield, that is when it had purpose! HFL really could make a statement this year with its best side playing Southern and whipping them!

After listening to you on here toughcall, if Handorf do anything but win the flag with a perfect season i will be dissapointed

There is no such thing as the perfect season, just ask the New England Patriots. But you have to say nobody has recruited better than Hahndorf in 08 and they are real big names. Count the League experience for starters. If you are a Hahndorf person you have to be excited with that list.

I think Hahndorf supporters will be happy not jetting smashed by the top sides. They had to do something and they have done a super job getting the players they have, plus they had a reasonable senior colts team last year so that should help with there depth.
