HELPING A GREAT CAUSE

Postby ryles-kennels » Wed Jan 30, 2008 4:40 pm

Hi everyone i know this is not GAMBLING RELATED but i know how everyone on this site likes to help out all of those less fortunate than ourselves so i have decided to post it here .
I have decided to register for the WORLDS GREATEST SHAVE to help raise money for all those families affected by Leukemia. I have attached a link for you all to click on if you would like to sponsor me in this very worthwhile cause.

No sponsorship money goes to me personally, 100% of it goes straight to the Leukemia foundation.

http://www.worldsgreatestshave.com/prof ... ?id=388856

Its just a way of trying to help out all those less fortunate than ourselves.

THANKYOU

GEOFF!

What are you shaving, and what are the odds of a full body wax?

Will be shaving my head obviously. Also my beard and for those who know me apart from trimming my beard it has never been completely shaven off, NOT EVEN FOR MY WEDDING.
As for the FULL BODY WAX! You would have to make a rather HUUUUUGGGEEEE DONATION!

WHY SHAVE?

Every hour an Australian is diagnosed with a blood cancer such as leukaemia. The funds you raise will help patients and families like Natalie's.

Natalie's Story!

I'll never forget the Wednesday in January 2006 when my husband Stephen was diagnosed with a very aggressive type of acute myeloid leukaemia. Four days later, he passed away.

We were on a family holiday and I was nearly seven months pregnant.

Stephen was becoming increasingly breathless, but we thought it was just a nasty virus.

Stephen went to our GP. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and because he hadn't been to the doctor for many years, he had a full blood test.

That night our GP rang and said Stephen's blood test 'had some worrying issues' and he should go to Accident and Emergency. He was admitted and the next day the haematologist explained he suspected leukaemia.

As this devastating news sunk in we steeled ourselves to be optimistic and embark immediately on treatment.

By Friday Stephen's breathing became so difficult that he was moved to ICU. His condition deteriorated, he had multi-organ failure and his heart stopped beating early on Sunday morning.

I remember going home, waking up the boys to come into bed with me, and when I told them their Dad had died, Fraser said 'that's sad' and he went back to sleep. He was 4 1/2 years old and Rhys was 6 1/2.

I gave birth to our daughter Zara, two months later and those emotions, mixed with the intense grief I experienced, still defy my ability to describe them.

It has been so difficult parenting three children who are experiencing their own grief and loss whilst clinging so close to just coping myself.

The Leukaemia Foundation has offered counselling whenever we've needed it and provided me with invaluable information to help me understand what happened to Stephen.

By participating in the World's Greatest Shave, you can fund research into better treatments and cures, and support families like mine during a difficult time in their lives.

STORIES LIKE THIS ONE IS THE REASON I SUPPORT
THE LEUKAEMIA FOUNDATION!
