The decision is weak, the fact it took nearly three weeks to hear it is even weaker.

Lots of egg on the faces of the ICC.Problem is,such bodies generally are so far removed from reality they have no perception of the average punters view, therefore showing such views no respect.

TRANSCRIPT of audio picked up from the Nine Network stump microphone of alleged incident between Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds at the SCG Test this month.

Symonds walks up to Harbhajan at the end of an over.

Symonds: "Go and yell at your teammates .... You called me monkey again."

Matthew Hayden: "Twice. You've got a witness now champ."

Hayden approaches Harbhajan.

Hayden: "That's the last time."

Harbhajan: "No listen he started it."

Hayden: "Doesn't matter mate, it's racial vilification mate. It's a shit word and you know it."

Soon after, Michael Clarke approaches umpire Mark Benson.

Clarke: "It's not the first time. He done it in India and got into strife. That's the second time he's done it."

Captain Ricky Ponting walks up to Benson and gestures towards fellow umpire Steve Bucknor.

Ponting: "Go and tell him. Go and tell him straight away."

Plenty of big calls here by posters...anyone sit in on the hearing?
Is it still one mans word against another ?
I myself am looking forward to the explaination by the man who made the verdict on the evidence presented.
India not wanting to use stump mic evidence mmmmmmmmmm Jo the cameraman anyone nah Warnie would not have said that.
Lets not forget that there is PLENTY of money tied up in the image of Andrew Symonds and A.C.B Major Sponsors ( the what ranger cup? the what big bang? all promoted massively by Roy jointly with the A.C.B) as well

I have not hung Mr H Singh myself yet and unless I am informed of some evidence will stay that way.If he turns up to represent his country pissed this may change.

And did he got of scott free? was he censured by his team-mates??? Was he dropped??? Did he run to his board to complain???

No he took it on the chin....

One could ask, has Symonds ever stood at the crease after being bowled???

Not saying we're perfect but to Gee Mr Singh is hardly pure as the driven snow....

Seriously who knows but this Indian team aren't exactly known for playing cricket in its right spirit either, I'm just curious why you seem quick to bring up the Australian character flaws without acknowledging the Indian "form", you're not Peter Roebuck are you?

I meant Symonds took it on the chin because he was indeed smashed.Should H.Singh cop it on the chin if he did not do it?

Maybe he wanted the umpire to confirm it like Roy did in Sydney

If you want an insight in to just want pull India has in World Cricket at the moment, including the $$$ flying around, read this article by Ian Chappell.

Also provides an interesting insight in to how the Indian Premier League has come about and the Packer like Indian Cricket League which was the initial one established. Very good reading.

no matter what was said this was a farce... the first time this case was heard it was a racial vilifictation the bloke got 3 test suspension ...in comes the appeal (iccb says if this dosnt get downgraded or thrown out we will end tour ) :-k :-k ..to make things better the icc in there wisdom  delay the appeal nearly 3 weeks there for allowing the bloke to play on untill this appeal was heard ...the appeal hearing happens and the charge is downgrade to abbusive behavior and he gets a fine (not sure if he got matches )...the reault smacks of the icc lacking serious balls and bowing to the dollar . one wonder what the icc would have lost if india had pulled out of the australian tour after the second test (eg.percentages from tv rites, advertising and gate takings )  ....
ps why dos haydos call everyone CHAMP..he should get a mention in that thread :D

Underlying factor here is that Singh did not deny it at the time, in fact his reply was, "He started it" Nothing like, "I did not say that, or thats crap etc etc. Also when it is mentioned to him that it was racial again he said nothing, so now the charge has been downgraded. Makes you wonder where we are going, just think when we play Port we wont be able to call them Wharfies, Centrals whatever, because in the light of this decision it is offensive.

Have also just heard now that the Indian Cricket Boss wants Symonds charged over the incident its beyond a joke

It's a dark day for international cricket. The Indians did not clear Harbijan -they blackmailed the Australians into doing this

I cannot condone any racial abuse but seriously I hope the Australian crowd in the 20/20 @ the MCG, give it to Indians...

What a piss weak decision by the ICC. Surely this opens the door for this sort of abuse to be condoned...

All the talk about the Indians being fair and good sports, people forget one of the world's best batsmen was found guilty of ball tampering, which is blatant cheating. I can't recall (and correct me please) any Australians recently being found guilty of ball tampering. The crap about Australia's sledging have rose coloured glasses on if they think no other team does it...

The Australians play it tough & fair and if they get caught doing something wrong take it on the chin...The Indians however have'nt got a chin to take it on...

Dean Jones had the best way to fix this. Down the pub over a few beers, if Harbi turned in to prick like normal then the boys and head outside and punch on. Would solve the problem!
