I actually thought Jones was a half decent ruckman, solid around the ground, definitley well built too. Do you really think JJ will be a better ruckman LF?

John Jared i think will get a go early as the no.1 ruckman (trained on Monday, very fit) and I would say that alex (although he hasn't trained) will ruck off the bench. That leaves me in the B's at this stage (hopefully in a forward pocket. Hint Hint Kiesy)

Alex off the bench?? Didnt he play association a couple of years ago and play really well.

Yes he did, to start with though, knowone knows how he made the association team as he had not played one good game for Goolwa. Don't know what came about him against River Murray but when he got back to Goolwa continued to play rat shit footy. Knowone can figure him out. Needs the mindset of his little brother, he is a tough and very good footballer.

its good to hear that John Jarrad is finally getting his S**t together, wasted his time and everyone else's at the bay as far as i have heard. Maybe jack cahill did take him under his wing at south. We will have to wait and see i suppose, friday nights tend to play a big part in Johnnys life, can goolwa keep him off the piss, time will tell

SAINTS have a very strict stand on thursday and friday night drinks, i think john will have huge turnaround with his footy and weekend activities this year.

I'm pretty sure most clubs have strict stands on Friday night drinks, but it's still upto the player to follow the rules. Time will tell if he and Badenoch have changed.

Not sure where your getting the notion anyones pumping his tyres up, he is a good bloke though. I can confirm he is not at the Bays and will play for Christies in 08.

Played Association with Alex Jones that year!

The Kid can play.

I reckon it could have been his interest levels.

would help if he had someone to show him the ropes or a few players around him thats what association brings out in players. it much easier to play with players that know what they are doing. (not a dig at goolwa , association side would be a betterside).

It was quite an effort that day. I know that Great Southern were short of players and basically he was the biggest guy. I know Baz didnt know a whole lot about him but he was very good that day. Played the game of his life u could say.

After that he went up to the State Country champs for Southern Districts and played alright early but its a tough carnival and he struggled with sore spots the second day. Didnt hear much of him last season lets hope he comes back with a good one this year, hes a good bloke!

He lacks alot of confident, Goolwa obviously doesn't have the quality players in the midfield like the association team does, but Yeomans is very good at directing him and he had Steve Moylen (Played for east fremantle and was on Fremantle Dockers list) give him alot of ruck lessons a couple of years back.

Can anyone tell me if he has been out to a training this year?

Someone of his size should be doing alot more on the field, hope he finds his feet and can play more than the one good game a year.

I know Alex and his brother Sam pretty well. Alex can be very good when he gets in the right frame of mind its just very hard to do this as he has not played too much footy and footy is not one of his main interest's he would much rather be out sailing in a yatch race. Its something I am sure they likes of Leigh Pope and senior players are hoping they can turn around in season 08 as they guy is a massive bloke, stands at about 6ft5 i think and a massive build.
I think with the way people are speaking on here about the saints they have taken a big step in the right direction this year with alot of hard work been done over the summer so guys like Alex will hopefully see this and give Popey and his players 100% in 08.
His brother Sam that also plays at the saints is a very high quality footballer and shows what the family has to offer to a A grade side when they are commited.

Heard from a very good source that Compass have lost their FF Braidwood for next year, is moving up Nth to sunny Queensland!
That's another huge loss for Compass, they will obviously be nowhere near as competitive as last year!

Maybe Jonesy should transfer to the Bays for a season - we are renowned for project ruckmen, I mean look what we did with Baylis in 07.

why do we put so much pressure on big guys just because they are built for footy doesnt mean they have to be superstars! fair to say we put a bit of pressure on them. its not like its easy to hide when your 6'4 and 120kg so people tend to notice if you dont get a kick. ??

cant think of too many big guys that are average footy players in gsfl i just think for most its consistancy, braidwood, jones, are fine examples of this. they can definatley play but dont often start fires!
