Someone earlier mentioned Helen Razor, does anyone recall listening to the ORIGINAL TRIPLE M station which I think was on the 997 FM dial or thereabouts ( no radio within site to check).
They had the ORIGINAL 3 hours of POWER..on a wednesday night....great stuff.....
Fake ID's,,, sit at the bus stop with your mates, slab of grog,, ghetto blaster and listen to 3 hours of institutionalised, I know your mummy and your mummy's dead, religious vomit, kill the poor etc....YEEEEEEEHAAAAA

Smithy Do you mean 93.7 - which is now 3D Radio? There use to be "Smash it up" which was punk/thrash/grind etc and there was also a metal show. The metal show use to be quite funny as some nights the guys hosting it would sit around and argue what constitutes real metal. Bit like some people on this site argueing about what constitutes real punk - no names - Punk Rooster and Leaping Lindner

BTW the way it was closer to 65 songs than 85 songs as I originally thought in 1989 for me but these days I wouldn't know 65/100 let alone own them. :-k
Also am I the only one that finds it a little weird that Love will tear us apart was #1 two years in a row but no other Joy Division song made the Top 100?? :-s "Transmission", "Atmosphere", "She's lost control"............

Those lists of the annual top 100s prove the point of the consensus on here. I bet they look back at some of the old ones and go

Some great songs there don't get me wrong ..... but hardly 'alternative' or on the edge where JJJ like to think they are :?

Spiller "If this aint love" .... dance music
Coldplay infinitum ..... easy listening I bought it for my mum
Bernard Fanning, Alex Lloyd, Something for Kate, Pete Murray ... more 70s style easy listening
Do it with Madonna / Teenage Dirtbag .... American teenage pop music
Coolio Gangster's Paradise

(just from a quick perusal)

PS the reason most of us have drifted away from JJJ is probably because we should be. Its target demographic is 10-18 year olds have you heard the kids that call in :D
In between signatures .....

Bloody good times. Remember it well. Loved 3 hours of power!! Oh the Angst!!!!
Yeah for me personally, I think it went down hill after 1996......I think the commerical stations started picking up on songs and just overkilled them.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Sweet Jeebus, hardly a bad track on the '89 and '90 lists. Whatever happened to music over the last two decades?

Still do it, AFAIK. I was a paid-up subscriber to MMM/3-D for many years. I stopped when they moved out of the city.

I did work experience out at 3D about 10 years ago, great week, spent a lot of time in the studio watching the presenters at work, and did my own hour long show at the end of the week where I got to chose all the music.

I went to a pub in Fulham in London advertising the Hottest 100 replay (on time delay obviously).

Instead, the cock-arse manager downloaded about 80 songs, and mixed them all up with last year's countdown and thought nobody would notice. Some pissed retards didn't notice, but when you hear songs like 'Call me Anytime' by the Cops, it's time to ask questions.

To make matters worse, as he only got 80 songs from this year, some were put on repeat too. We only new it was number 1 because one bloke who (thankfully) cheated and read the list before getting to the pub yelled it out.

Talk about about a balls-up.

Oh and if anyone thinks that Australia Day is synonymous with bad behavior by yobbos on the hill at Adelaide Oval watching the beer, I mean cricket, head over to London one year and check out how disgraceful some Aussies can really be. No wonder the poms at work give me constant grief for being a heathen. Some people are an embarrassment to the flag.

End of rant

wow, I vote this thread no.1 ever!!!!!

i have listened to jjj about 3 times in the last 3 years, and thats when im back in oz like now.

I went to a mates place, sat in the kiddie pool, drank boags and coopers, played some cricket, watched some cricket and listened along!!!

it was ok, but as most/all say, not as good as the golden days. still, im a big fan of no's 1 & 2 and a few stashed between 2 and 100.

altho the best is behind it, its still a solid day of boozing and relaxing.
Carn the blues!!!!!

2007. No 30. Silverchair - If you keep losing sleep.

I nominate this for the WORST bloody song of all time. How many drugs did Johnsy and co take before they came up with that tripe?

Makes me want to do a Chopper Reid.

The Hottest 100 is definately not what it used to be. And what's with the countdown from number 10 to number 1 taking an hour. We want to hear the music not idiots rattle on.
