Yep, it was Wundke, best catch Ive ever seen, absolute freak, dove to one side fully extended to get hands to the ball which knocked it up in the air and then he got up and dove full length in the other direction to finish the catch.
I think he was at square leg or thereabouts.
Never forget it.
Was his first name Stephen?
Dyson 2nd.

There's been a lot that could be worthy.

I did a search for "best cricket catches to see what came up. Everyone will have their own idea of which was better

Not a true classic in the sense of some others in this thread, but (I think) I recall Bruce Yardley tearing half his arm off taking a caught and bowled chance many moons ago - keeping the fingers around the ball while the pitch took his forearm to pieces was quite impressive.

The Dyson catch was one that we all used to try and emulate in the pool at home as kids, great stuff.

Roger Harper - 3rd Test v Australia at MCG in 88-89.

aussies batting on a horrible pitch on the last day. Jones facing Ambrose and goes to flick it through mid-wicket, and entire slip cordon (bar Harper) and crowd are looking to the on-side. Ball has actually taken the leading edge and flown to 3rd/4th and Harper takes it one-handed behind him, diving full length to the left. It was unbelievable and he was 12th man, which made it all the more annoying he was on the field. that was the innings Patrick Patterson destroyed us for about 100.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.

Some people seem to remember this (Steve Waugh remembers in this article http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/01/ ... 47625.html), but I've never seen it discussed anywhere on forums until I bring it up. Nor have I ever seen footage of it, but Dad still insists the best catch he has seen was Derek Randall's catch in 1979/80 to dismiss Andy Roberts. He was running backwards at a fair clip, dived backwards and caught it one handed.
