Best catch you have seen in televised cricket......

Postby LaughingKookaburra » Fri Jan 18, 2008 8:27 pm

What is the best catch you have seen on TV, can be from any match and if you have video footage put it on.
My favorite is and always will be Paul "Fatty" Vaughns 1 hander in the Allan Border testomonial. Absolute cracker and defied all laws of feilding to take it......

I always liked the one taken by Border in the slips against NZ in a one dayer, around 86/87.

J Dyson

S Clarke c Dyson b Yardley

There are heaps though - Howarth, Randall, Border (as mentioned), Taylor first slip (Arthurton low scoring game in a one dayer), Taylor where he kicked the ball up, Adam Dale (Qld mid on running backwards).........where do you stop....

Steve Waugh at the MCG against the Windies, racing down the Oval for a ball flying in the air in the same direction as he was running, and snatches it just before colliding with the fence and sightscreen.

Big debate about whether or not that was a legal catch or not, i recall ex umpire Robin Bailache criticising the decision to allow it but then i heard others saying it was legal..

That is a catch, why can you lean against a fence and take a catch.....If it was a rope on the other hand. But remember seeing that as a very young man, great catch

The other side of the sight screen is classed as being outside the field of play apparently.

been too many over the years, Dyson was great, as was Fatty Vaughtons, reckon Glenn McGraths at Adelaide Oval was pretty spectacular as well, reckon they could fill a 4 hour video/DVD of classic catches, remember Rod Marsh and Gilly taking some purlers as with Mark Waugh, the list could go on and on
