both kellys stuggled at Yankalilla had good year when they had a good side You have to get the ball down to these to compete and that will be there problem, tell me 10 new good players and maybe they become competitive.

Understand that with Scott but I would imagine that Dave Kelly would play in the middle and only rest in the forward line. I do agree with you though observer they would need at least 10 more good players to start being competitive but its a start and losing by 20 goals a game has got to be better than being beaten by 40+ you need to start somewhere and the Kelly boy are a good start I reckon.

Also if that is true about the Kelly brothers quitting Yank because they couldn't handle losing by 10+ goals every week then how did they end up at the Hawks? Does Hawks = Cash don't know but do know Dave Kelly and he generally isn't a bloke who just plays for money.

There must quite a bit of cash at the Hawks, am i right? Didn't some old codger win lotto and throw a heap to the club? Wouldn't be nice to see them blow it all in a year or two just for the sake of saving 20 goals a game. Make the club more inviting and lure the players from M/Vales second sides into your club, generally the players from second sides are better club men and if you can get them to stick around and put money back into the club your halfway there. Probably find quite a few potential A graders, i know of many players from second sides that end up good A graders, they just develop late.

Shot yourself in the foot with that comment on one hand you say they are better clubmen and then you expect them to leave a succesful club they love to goto a crap club that they've grown up hating?

I think it is important that Hackham doesn't blow the cash on buying players 1 or 2 I can understand. But they have to focus on building their junior program that is what all the successful clubs have. Happy Valley and Morphett Vale have had their success built on good junior Hackham needs to attract juniors to the club that will make thm competitive in the long term. Until then they may have to go through some tough times.

Still though think the Kelly's are good start hopefully that well help the club alot.

Instead of trying to get players from Emus 2nd sides why not get into the schools with some coaching clinics like Morphett Vale do.If you want a good junior program you need to do the hard work not rely on getting them from other clubs.
If the only reason you play is for a beer with your mates after the game, your playing for the wrong reasons !!

Yeh i did a bit didnt i zelezny chucks. M/Vale look after the second side as best they can but surely the Hawks can look after them, as their first side much better. The idea of getting into schools is great, the primary school kids would love A grade players in their school for a clinic or two and you would be able to lure alot to the Hawks when they leave primary school footy.

Tatts thats exactly what I am saying I don't think pinching B-Graders from other clubs is what needs to be done. If they have funds now they should get in good equipment like weights and make it a place where locals want to come and play there footy. They have to get out there inyto primary schools and even the High Schools and get the word out come down to Hackham.
Also I think what would help Hackham a great deal would be a coach that is prepared to do the extra work off the ground to promote the club to the community like going to Schools?

Hackham didn't get money from that lotto winner. They just have a bit of cash from saving over the last few years. If you honestly expect Morphies 2nds to go to Hackham you are kidding yourself. Those 2 sides hate each other with a passion and the only player i can recolect switching between the clubs was Robbo. Those 2 sides used to have viscious battles (When Hackham were a half deicent side).I still remember as a junior in the late 90's when hackham beat Morphies at States rd and Morphett Vale were not far off bottom and Hackham were bragging bout possibly putting them in to Div 2 at prezo's. Not sure who was the coach at Hackham then but how times do change......
