I hear Size from Flagstaff Hill is headed to Cove, not the GSFL.

Yes Splinter, Im pretty sure its a done deal. Obviously a fair bit of cash involved as it was between Encounter Bay and Cove, and im aware of how much Encounter Bay was offering! Will be very interesting when Cove play Flaggies next year, as im sure most of the Flaggies boys wont be too impressed with the young man!!

Honestly don't see what all the fuss about Size is? Really didn't impress that much in the game I saw him play certainly don't think he will add anything to the Cove side to warrant the money.

I hear he told Ecounter Bay he was playing, then an hour after sent the coach a text message telling him he wasn't playing! Must of got straight on the phone and told Cove what EB had offered and told them to match it.

I know he is a big boy, but from what i have seen that is about all he has got. One thing you know about Cove is that they go hard at the footy and Size is not known for this ability. Will they still pay him when he is dropped to the twos Speccy?

Your spot on there Splinter! You seem to have an insight into the man. Have you played with him before or just seen him as an opposition player?

For such a big boy, he does have a rather large tendacy to go a little soft around the ball. Very good in the ruck tap but very ordinary around the ground. You'd think with his size, pardon the pund, you'd be able to rest him up forward or somewhere he could be of value while taking a breather, but we werent able to do that because he is very slow and doesnt have the greatest hands!

Have already heard that a few of the local Cove boys arent happy about him getting paid, so he could be on the back foot with a few of the boys down there already.

Im pretty sure he wouldnt get paid to play in the 2s, but I honestly cant see him playing there either. Will probably do a lot of the centre bounce work and get rotated off the pine. The bloke is a man mountain and would probably be too much of a waste in the magoos.

I think you will fnd Size is going to add a lot to the Cove side.... They would have got him for his tap work and big body in the centre square... He was never noticed at flaggies cos he was tapping the ball to ordinary midfielders....At cove he is tapping to Vick Goodwin Reavill Heath Taylor Baker etc and they will get plenty of opportunity with Size tapping it to him....He will also release Gill to play elsewhere maybe key defensive or forward post....I heard Size lives in Hallet Cove and it wasnt what Cove offered money wise that what won his services it was that he has lost his license and also the fact Cove organised him to sit down and chat with there Captain....

Surely with the likes of Gill, Padroth (if he's still there) and the other talls they have a better option would have been a key defender or a key forward something that may stretch some other teams? But Ando does know what he's doing doesn't he......

Would have to agree with Speccy. Surely a quality key position player would have been a better bet for Cove. I think Size will perform and maybe show a little more heart against the lower teams with the bigger bodies of the Cove boys around him, but will go missing in the big games and his true colours will show.

Jono tour kidding arnt you. Size will play most of the year in the Bs. What is Ando thinking? Dont you think Drew Graham or even Shambels Ursino is better than Size. Thats a waste of Money for Cove. They should have added thet to Weidermans packet and maybe he would have stayed.
Goodwin is a great pick up, he a Vick will pose a great duel against the two Bayley boys of Morphett Vale, looking forward to seeing that one.
Still think Cove lack that strong no fuss player across a Half Back or Half Forward Flank. Along with a gun Forward that weiderman is gone.
Any Thoughts Jono?

As opposed to midfielders who fold in big games Jono??

Ordinary comment my friend... A guy like Matt Size is noticed anywhere, as he is a monolith.

sorry BRD, haven't played too many finals against them. But we can agree on one thing, if that's what they need to improve on they are not going to get any help from Size.

haha agreed splinter, looks like cove might of missed out on a player they were after and had to resort to a desperate plan B..... i would of thought paying weiderman a few more dollars was a better investment than signing the Size. My first thoughts on cove signing him was "LIABILITY, each to there own!

On the topic of semi-useful ruckman is there any talk down south that Noarlunga stalwart Shane Comer is retiring from footy???

I think you'll find that Shane Comer seems to retire every year, but still ends up pulling on the boots for the Shoes. And from my experiences I would say he is more than 'semi-useful.'

The big rumour is that he is heading to Edwardstown, but I wouldnt be surprised if he stays with Noarlunga.

Having played in both the SFL and GSFL, i think the top 5 in each league are very evenly matched, come finals time you can't go past Willunga and M/Vales, but L/Creeks dealt Willunga a couple of losses, i think you would have your top 3 right there with Strathalbyn and Reynella in the mix.

Would be very interesting, the drive from Goolwa to Brighton/Morphettville is just over an hour, thats nothing for a game of footy. I do an hour and a half to get to my club twice a week.
