The problem is the word "warrant". You get them by state legislation, but that does not make them an objectively realistic piece of legislation.

I really don't think 120 to 130 on a good clear road is really excessive speed, whereas 60 in a suburban street may well be. The arbitrary 110K limit [100 in Victoria] is ludicrous and even the cops routinely exceed it - and not just when on active "call".

No you get them by thinking you are above the laws of the land, thinking you can do 120 or 130kmph on an open country road until some farmer pulls out from some dirt side road them an innocent is dead because you were at that spot 10-15 seconds sooner than you would have normally been.

Just how far over the limit do you need to be to get a $300 fine anyway?

Tell ya what gives me the 5hits.

Having a gutsfull of cans, not having Foxtel, and at 4 o'clock on a Sunday during summer, having to watch fat old cricketers get pi55ed while Andrew friggin Maher tries to get Colin 'Funky' Miller into a genuine discussion about the state of a fake friggin pitch on a beach.

More cans,rant over.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Using that logic doing 140k/ph would be OK because they'd be there before any harm could be done.
What if a person would only hit a farmer pulling out from some dirt road if they were doing exactly 110km/h.
Would doing 120km/h or 130km/h be OK then?

I can understand the point if you'd said people are more likely to be in serious accidents the faster they go but to use the logic that its more of an issue because you get to a spot sooner is abstract to say the least. Using that logic the faster you go the better as you're unlikely to be at a place as you spend less time passing it. :?

Only if you don't watch ahead, see the junction, and respond to what is happening, and the other party doesn't either. You are both supposed to be paying attention, not working on assumptions. Bitumen side roads are more of a worry - there is no dust to make it easier if you aren't paying attention then - you made a poor assumption there!

I don't know, I never got one that high, but that may be because the SA government needs more money than it used to when I lived there.

That was on the highway between Crystal Brook and Port Pirie.
I was CERTAIN i was sitting on 120, in the OVERTAKING lane.
125 according to his radar.
300 down.
Apparently the size of your rims can throw your speedo out.
That's what the cop said.
I wouldn't know, but no mercy. Top bloke.
Unmarked car too.
Put me behind 3 houses on Trucks, all in a line.
80kmh all the way to Port Augusta.

The rims sure can. The speedo works by measuring the number of rotations your wheels do. It multiplies this by the circumference of the wheels so that it can work out the distance you are travelling, converting that to speed. If you put a different size rim on your car, then the odometer will be inaccurate.
