Postby bayman » Wed Dec 19, 2007 10:57 pm

i can hear all the youngsters saying that'd never happen but going back years ago south australia always played queensland over the christmas break INCLUDING CHRISTMAS DAY, so while it wont happen again should we be able to see cricket or any other sport on christmas day ?
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

There was even a Test match in Adelaide on Christmas Day. I'm interested in that in a more conservative time (in the 50s some time) why they had a match on then. I'd doubt that it would be well attended due to family gatherings etc for an idea nowadays anyway.

I think with crowds at domestic cricket these days it wouldn't really make much diffrence, most of those that go will go even if it is christmas day.

Perhaps a 20/20 Starting about 6.00 pm would be the go i reckon. Then Cossie wouldn't miss out on the Christmas turkey and Pudding for lunch.

I am a cricket fanatic and go as much as I can but Xmas day is out, thats the day you sit back out on the verandah with the brother in law, beer in hand whilst the women do the work, cook a great lunch, finish lunch by 2, have a sleep till 5 back into the booze on the verandah eating left overs, only cricket for me xmas day might be a bit of a game in the back yard

Cricketers these days don't have that much time to relax and spend time with their families so I think no cricket on Xmas Day is a good thing, let the players have the day off and then come back out on Boxing Day. I would still watch a bit of the cricket but wouldn't get to watch too much of it until later in the afternoon, I definitely wouldn't go.

Does the NBA still play Christmas day, or have they stopped that too?
