My 13yo son came home from school earlier this year after having had religous studies at school (public so it's not shoved down their neck all the time.) As a younger kid he was dinosour mad, and knows more about evoloution and time lines than I ever will.
Son: I don't think I believe in god anymore
Mother: Why not ?
Son: They told us how the world started and they were wrong
Mother: What do you mean?
Son: The dinosours weren't there, they couldn't fit them in anywhere
Mother: Oh! (speachless at his obvious use of proper reasoning and scientific fact)
Son: What they said can't be right, they said the world began with Adam & Eve, but the dinosours were all around for millions of years, and what about Neanderthal man .........etc. etc.

catholics - We're taught to have the whole guilt thing down-pat by the age of about nine. However, the priests get very very unhappy when you ask some difficult questions in secondary school.
Yep, great times

Sorry that you got brought up in the wrong era, Roger. You will find that Catholic education has changed a lot in the past twenty years.
Cheers
