Is there some resentment to Morphett Vale No Mercy? Have they done the same thing for the last few years or is the later start a new thing?

I think training can start that early but attention needs to be given to not overtraining. This is easier to manage if training starts later. Morphett ale may be on to a winner.

Size has been linked to Encounter Bay on a number of occaisions so it will be interesting to see where he lands... Pretty sure that most clubs won't get involved in clearances etc. until the season proper is well and truly in full swing i.e. March when club secretaries are back into it, they work hard enough during the season, so i am not too sure they are required just yet... Sounds like Cove and Reynella are well and truly into pre-season training...

Most clubs train & get a few weeks up their sleeves prior to christmas Mex,but no not M-Vale,they have this belief they don't need 2 start til 4th week of jan,coz their soooo good.
Number 5 is in the bag already mate isn't it?

Sour Grapes Mercy? Morphies haven't changed there pre-season plan since they started winning premierships. If it ain't broke! Been stated on here previously that some Reynella players may have been a bit burnt out after their pre-season and pre-season competition like swoop-dog says takes a lot of discipline from a lot of guys to maintain any level of fitness they have built up before Chrissie!

I'll refer to you as your original sign in "Football Magic", not sure why you would try to change your identity, we'll save that discussion for another time...

Anyway at Morphies we start late and have a fairly solid season, so each and to there own. However i will say this, in the late 90's early 2000's when we weren't winning GF's a core group would train well before christmas in the hope it would be beneficial in the years to come... The majority of these blokes are currently winning senior flags at the moment... Every club in the comp should be doing everything they possibly can to close the gap on the Emu's... If that makes us soooo good then so be it... Cheers and be Merry...

Think that you'll find he is out at South trying there but if he doesn't cut it out there then Tailem Bend is where he will play. Heard they have been busy down at Tailem rumours that they have gained a handful of bomber players one being a Vice Captain out there
Obvious lost for Cove but there forward line was to big and not very mobile last year with no Weeds I think that Ramsay is just as good a replacement and Coombes for so much needed pace up there

How many blokes are you talking about there? Can you clarify your comment, you said tailem have picked up some players from the Bombers, do you mean Brighton? Or are you talking about Cove? Who is the Vice Captain you are referring to? Tailem realistically only have enough points to pick up probably 4 players at most, so it will be interesting to see who they go with as they have been linked to about 7 players!
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

More good news for Tony Meekins men... Who is Andrew Angove..?? Haven't heard of him... I'm pretty sure they have a gun junior that has won a mail medal or two, but unless my memory is failing me don't think it is him...

Yoo know Christies will be in all sorts if Screech hands in a clearance!

Pretty certain your right there Swooper. I very much doubt the Prez will be dipping into that bottomless pocket for a borderline A grader.

Heres some info/goss I have heard round the place the last couple of months.

- Big S.Peacock back from injury and interstate to play for porties again.

- Mike Mahar from Valleys to retire because of injury, big loss if true, is a gun player

- Comer from the shoes has commited to training at a Div 2 SAAFL club after xmas with a view to sign on. (possibly a former coaches team?) (Also so many rumours bout Comer every year and he stays put, so who knows!)

- Marion possibly losing R. Hamilton but have possibly gained B.Stokes.

- Cove have been getting 35 odd, out to pre season sessions since mid November.

- Flaggies possibly losing a couple of good young players, but with a new coach now some may be brought in.

- Brighton have B.Brookman back from O/S

- Interesting to hear as well, that word on the street is Aldinga have picked up another 7 players on top of last year (most from Amatuer league). they are offering between 200 and 400 a game for recruits (what salary cap?) 1 recruit is meant to be a SAAFL state player from last season. They also talk up that they will finish between 4th and 6th next season!!!!
And the fact there is a few Aldinga ppl on the forum and none have mentioned it yet is weird!?! Are they going for the surprise element (unlike last year when they blabbed on all pre season bout thier new players, and still did pretty crap) or is what u hear out and about lies???? !!!!!!

Good work Petoe.

The valleys have had a couple of pre X-mas runs and I'm pretty sure Mahar was a part of it.

Petoe, nice rumours champ.. we haven't picked up a state player from last year, we haven't picked up 7 new recruits and we aren't offering between 200 and 400 we have 1 player who is getting over 200... the rest are all under 150 max. We have picked up 2 onballers and and that is about it pretty low key but we had good numbers on the track last night about 35 i think...

Oh and i forgot to add the 2 onballers are from the riverland not amatuer league... We are speaking to a couple of other guys but nothing too substantual, we are hoping to lure one gun away from another team who will be offered some good amount but everyone on here would agree that he is worth it, but i don't like our chances...
