Onkas had a few of ther best players in the B grade due to them not attending all trainings! Devils gave them a thumping

Yeah, early days. I did hear Lofty still had a few out too. But some good signs. Good attitude too by the looks.
Onkas did look to struggle at times.
And the Maggies over Lobie? Interesting.

As I posted pre-match I wasn't going to be able to attend the match but I must admit that I thought they would do a bit better than that.

With the increasing hype about night footy, i was just wondering what the opinions are of everyone in this forum about night footy in the hills. Did anyone get to the game at heathfield on saturday night, and do you believe that night games give an unfair advantage to the teams that are hosting these games when other clubs dont have the facilities? what are your thoughts?

Burch, Baldock, D Stapleton and Kiazzad didn't play for lofty. Great game to watch. If Lofty had kicked straight the damage would have been alot worse. Talking to a couple of Onkas lads after the game I think they enjoyed the night game. Easly a 1000 people there.

Night footy is a great idea if it works for the league. Last year I think there was 1500 and 1000 people to the games. I also heard there was about 1500 to the game on sat night. I didn't get to go unfortunatley.

I wouldn't imagine a round match at other country comps couldn't draw that many people to the game.

I guess night footy would be an advantage to the hosting side, but not too much different from a normal homeground advantage that say bridgewater would have on their small ground.

Blackwood beat Lofty last year in a night game so I dunno if it is a disadvantage.

What does the forum think??

So lofty had a couple of players out. What about onkas?? Were onkas playing terrible or were lofty that much better??Who got dropped to the B-grade for onkas cos of not attending training?

I'm a very big wrap for night footy at the right grounds, and especially in Country Division, for which the publicity would be invaluable. I've thought, for example, that it would be good to see a team "bid" for the right to host the season opener on a Friday night (starting at say, 7pm - allowing for Daylight Saving and for players to get there after work) and be the innovator for things. Not sure which one may be the first to try, but definitely worth a look.

i looked on in interest on sat when the game was on the line..i have to question a couple of my beloved blood and tars...2 players came off...didnt appear to be injured...surely ur ticker would get u over the line if it was a lil bit of fatigue???....
anyways a lil storty i heard and maybe someone can back it up...and thanks for the info mate...keep punching!... blackwood footy club in dire fanancial trouble? at leats of the end of last season..maybe the result of no recruiting this year and the loss of some players? i notice the footy clubs rooms are no longer the blackwood football club they are the "community" club is this a bail out from the blackwood council?

m.m, big call!!! were they senior players? the coach wouldnt have been too happy with that.
it is well known that blackwood have been giving more money out than what is coming in over the last couple of years. but it sounds like it has dried up now. especially with a lot of good players leaving that were on good money. have also heard that the paddock across the road of blackwoods oval will residential soon, and a curfew will then be placed on the club. might have something to do with it.

Country v Central

Postby Chook » Tue Apr 11, 2006 12:13 pm

guys, I must admit that I haven't had too much to do with the country division, but was interested to hear your thoughts of the difference between the leagues as I have heard that Central Division is far better than the country division.

I think last year there were two players from the country division in the interleague game.

Danielle was on the bench and carter at back pocket.

What are your thoughts??

Blackwood cant be that poor. A little birdy told me the Page has paid out over $400 to get Justin Creek on board.

Yeah Chook, Central is easily better standard than Country, with Central basically being Division 1 and Country Division 2. Their are many good players in Country that would hold their own in Central but the depth in teams is the difference.
