US Masters tips

Postby The_Bay_Boy » Tue Apr 04, 2006 4:04 am

The US Masters is on this weekend. I consider it the best golf tournement of the year. It's the only time i will willingly wake up at 5am to watch it.

my tip..... Phil Mickelson.

Tiger is the favourite sure. but Phil is always the dark horse and this year will be his year like in 2004.

Anyone else have a tip?????

Hard to go past Tiger here but Vijay Singh is a previous winner and is very consisent here.
Like Miguel Angel Jiminez as a roughie and the Argentinian Angel Cabrera has a consistent record here.

As does Jose Maria Olozabel, who if my memory serves correctly, pocketed a nice 26/1 place return last year :D

A couple of tips.

1: Hit the ball long a straight.
2: Get it in the hole in as few strokes as possible.

Follow these tips and you'll go a long way.

As I posted on the gambling forum, for those who don't know, Augusta National has been lengthened another 200 yards to make it a monstrous 7600 yards (6900 metres). A fair bit longer now than the course I remember particularly well from the '90's and I think if there is going to be any rain the course will play even longer but will still need high iron shots to sit on the lightning quick greens, which will make it winnable for only a very few IMHO - Tiger, Ernie Els, Singh, Mickelson and if John Daly can get it together for the week, don't rule him out entirely.

Notice the Walrus' lad is listed at 151/1 ... Obviously consistency would be his biggest danger, but surely has the distance in his game to sneak under the radar if he get's on one of his rolls (pardon the pun)??

I think the Walrus likes it wet :P
I expect Rod Pampling to be right up there at good odds.

American Chad Campbell in the lead at 6 under after a 67. Leads by three shots from Singh, Mediate and Couples with Els, Mickelson a further shot back and Woods another one behind them at one under.
Didn't see any of this mornings coverage but what a performance by Australia's Mark Hensby to follow up his bad first round of 80 to shoot the day's equal best round of 67 and just make the cut at 5 over par. Must be one of the biggest second round comebacks in a major.
Good performance by the Aussies overall with only Peter Lonard out of the origional 8 starters missing the cut.
Nick O'Hern is the leading Aussie at one under and his excellent course management skills will stand him in good stead on this brutal layout.
