Abbott pulls out.....

Labor, Liberal, Greens, Democrats? Here's the place to discuss.

Abbott pulls out.....

Postby blueandwhite » Wed Nov 28, 2007 5:22 pm

Tony Abbott has pulled out from the leadership race for the liberal party.
Its a pity his father didnt "pull out" about 50 yrs ago.

In reality Abbott must have seen the writing on the wall.... after all he's a catholic in the liberal party which is historically filed with WASPS so what chance did he have.

ah bullshit, the monk can trash talk with the best of them. Would've made the show more interesting especially with bunnies like Gillard in the headlights.

Mate the point I'm trying to make is on both sides of the political spectrum people who put their hat into teh leadership ring also behind close doors get on phone and gauge their amount of support, if tehy haven't got it they pull out as it simply is a waste of time....

IIRC Rudd or Smith sounded out standing when Latham won the leadership but then either didn't stand or withdrew once they knew they didn't have the support.

I think gutless means on how he (Abbott) treated asbestos suffer Bernie Banton when all he wanted to do was get a life saving medication on the PBS even though the medication would not have helped him at his late stages of mesothelioma.

Abbott hasn't been well since he recently found out that the earth actually ISN'T flat.

PS - Anyone catch the mad monk on Lateline last night? He has a new career ahead in comedy if he ever leaves politics.

If you have not got the numbers and you know it you should stand aside I believe so those who were going to support you can cast a vote in the leadership ballot. This will then reduce the risk of disunity by these very same voters being canvassed later on in the term by the losing contender for a challenge. I think Mr Abbott has done the right thing and should not be called gutless and I have no time for the man at all.Gutless would have been not to publicly say I am standing and not going out on a limb.
