from what i have heard BJ you would probably play A grade for a team like Trinity, but they are a7 and if we were a6 we would probably still play finals in your competition...

Lindsay and his cheque book are tuff to part haha.

Not sure when our season starts but we have a bit of a winning pre season set up and nothing will probably change this year. I imagine it will be exactly the same as last year regarding trial matches and pre season. BY all means come up and have a look. Enjoy the view as we look down the hill towards Aldinga and Port Willunga. Its a beautiful view. Nothing like a good pre season on the side of a hill!

FM is your man , he coaches the bay so who better to tell you . It will be interesting at the bay next year , not all roses their this year so hopefully they can turn it around and make a better go of it . Players like scott brown , jacob baggs , dave saunders and co need to have a big year and unite under bassani . They will miss princi though .

BJ Ernest wrote:Goolwa have a good group of young guys and a better club atmosphere than in the past.

That said it needs to be bolstered by some good recruiting to compete with the top sides and for the leagues sake i hope not only Goolwa but every side improves with solid recruiting and promoting juniors. My fear is that not a lot of juniors are ready to play A grade footy in this comp at 17-18. So will clubs play them in the hope that the exposure will make them better?

Will a player get better by getting flogged by a bigger stronger opponent? Id like to think yes but i know that getting flogged can dent the confidence of a young player.

GSFL Footy is great footy and the local feel to clubs will remain with or without the points system so play on. It cant be changed so no more whinging about it from me!

Only time will tell how the points system goes , if it evens the comp out that can only be a good thing . Like the cycle of teams going up and down the standard of the comp is the same . The standard of the comp at the moment is not as strong as it was 10 years ago , there are still great players but the standard has dropped . Given that clubs will have to recruit smarter under the points system i hope this will in itself lift the standard .

I presume they'll be a bit more restricted in how many they recruit for the 08 season than they could for the season just gone. Does anyone know how the points system is actually going to work in GSFL?

Interesting.

Sounds like it will work slightly differntly to the system in the River Murray League where everyone who's played at a particular point is worth zero points, and the points only apply to new recruits.

Presumably in GSFL, all locals worth 1 points, and recruits (and existing "outsiders") graded to level of competition most recently played..

FootyMad wrote:Personally I think it about time everyone got off Princi's back! I've heard everyone say he's a top fella etc and then state how bad a time he will have.

Facts are simple, Princi applied for a vacant coaching role.
Deacon for some reason or another did not reapply or was overlooked.
Not one player is yet to seek a clearance from Pongy to anywhere else, the closest that has happened has been the inuendo on here.
Princi is a first year senior coach apart from his time at Flaggies under age.
Princi had a sensational year for the Bays and is not only one of the fittest players in the comp but reliable, he will be missed at the Bay and is very good get (should he play) for Pongy.

All in all lads, I wish him well and doubt very much that Pongy will finish in the bottom 2 for 08. I only say bottom 2 as there were 3 sides on equal points at the end of the minor round, all year there was a jostle for spots in the middle of the table and ofcourse I believe the Bays will be big improver in 08 as they look to consolidate on 07 with a list boasting 90% of players being under 23years and only one current late game starter being over 30 in Heuskes.

FM, i dont think anyone has said Princi is anything but a top bloke. From what i've heard he'll play and will have full support from his players. In the end those boys play 4 the jumper up there and if he can bring a couple of players with him they'll play finals again. Time to move on from this topic.Have the Bays signed anyone yet??

The Bays have lost Baylis, Princi and possibly Stokes for 08 and Webber has retired to ass. coach Port Maggies U/17.

The players mentioned above have already commenced training together along with a 25 others in order to prepare for a pre-season that will kick off with a gruelling camp in Jan.

Can anyone tell me why Saunders from Victor is ringing other clubs (GSFL) players? I can confirm he has rang Stokes and Hooper. Stokes will not play for another GSFL club and Hooper was never leaving and will not unless he gets a game at South. I mean I know we had a few players from the GSFL call us but we didnt contact them.
