Sauce'y has never been the most popular coach going around, maybe a few are looking else wear due to his coaching style. From all reports he used up all his recruiting cards last season and is finding it very hard to get and keep players interested.

Points system in , voted 17 for 3 against . If other reports this morning are true things are just beginning to get interesting . Willunga voted against as did one victor delegate . I hope teams can start recruiting smartly down there .

Interesting, you would think that you would have delegates from the same club heading in the same direction.

Yeah although people have differing opinions they may have decided to go with there own rather than a united front!

I guess im disappointed but as it shouldnt affect us too much im not gonna complain.

The real test is in a year or 2 when recruits leave, guns retire etc and cant be replaced and gradually the standard of the comp WILL drop. Nothing like bringing the top sides back rather than encourage the lower sides to catch up. Its a natural cycle and eventually those sides at the top will fall.

you right BJ, i say leave it to the natural cycle. But now its time to get on with it. All of a sudden I am glad that we have a good local contingent at the Saints. Maintaining good local numbers is vital!

Levy was at Henley but I reckon he has pulled the pin there. The only other recent coach is Mark Heinrich but he doesn't coach anymore.

Goolwa have a good group of young guys and a better club atmosphere than in the past.

That said it needs to be bolstered by some good recruiting to compete with the top sides and for the leagues sake i hope not only Goolwa but every side improves with solid recruiting and promoting juniors. My fear is that not a lot of juniors are ready to play A grade footy in this comp at 17-18. So will clubs play them in the hope that the exposure will make them better?

Will a player get better by getting flogged by a bigger stronger opponent? Id like to think yes but i know that getting flogged can dent the confidence of a young player.

GSFL Footy is great footy and the local feel to clubs will remain with or without the points system so play on. It cant be changed so no more whinging about it from me!

Dont think we are going to be the only improvers! We are just the only ones that have declared our gains and losses.

Myponga have their 3 new recruits but may have lost Tomlinson and Loots . Grapevine talk is htat loots may be headed back to MV , will have to wait and see if this is correct . If MV lose the players like Ellison and co it will set them back .

Dont know where you heard this but tomlinson isnt going anywhere, loosy is undecided and will be til after christmas. Apparently Deeks was keen for them to go to jervious but with everyone staying, they're looking forward to 08 at Pongy.

On the point system, it will place a larger gap between the bigger and smaller clubs. We wont see the affects for a couple of seasons but the clubs struggling with a lack of juniors would have to be nervous.

Deacs has been at Mypo since he was a lil tacker is he trying to take a few away as a bit of pay back for not putting there faith in him this year? From what I know of Princi I can't see him inspiring any Pongy boys anymore than Deacs would have?

Personally I think it about time everyone got off Princi's back! I've heard everyone say he's a top fella etc and then state how bad a time he will have.

Facts are simple, Princi applied for a vacant coaching role.
Deacon for some reason or another did not reapply or was overlooked.
Not one player is yet to seek a clearance from Pongy to anywhere else, the closest that has happened has been the inuendo on here.
Princi is a first year senior coach apart from his time at Flaggies under age.
Princi had a sensational year for the Bays and is not only one of the fittest players in the comp but reliable, he will be missed at the Bay and is very good get (should he play) for Pongy.

All in all lads, I wish him well and doubt very much that Pongy will finish in the bottom 2 for 08. I only say bottom 2 as there were 3 sides on equal points at the end of the minor round, all year there was a jostle for spots in the middle of the table and ofcourse I believe the Bays will be big improver in 08 as they look to consolidate on 07 with a list boasting 90% of players being under 23years and only one current late game starter being over 30 in Heuskes.

How does being a top bloke translate into success as a coach? Just stating the fact that if Deacs didn't leave of his own accord then it's a sad way for him to have left the club and that I can't see Ben doing a better job. In no way an attack on him or his coaching ability!

Top bloke at the helm is better than an ordinary one, he's also a teacher so should know how to put his ideas to practice successfully - the bays will still have pongy's measure though.
