Yep, it’s summer. :D

I thought yesterday seemed hotter but I got in my car today at the same time and was 48, opposed to 45 yesterday.

Done 3 laps of the factory each of the last two days with an esky filled with ice cold water, Powerade sachets and Zooper Doopers, went through far more today than yesterday despite the BOM predicting less.

Had heaps of birds under my back verandah when I got home taking shelter under my veggies that I dragged in, they weren’t scared of me once I brought a bowl of water out, must be bloody hot.

There was a bird sitting alive but quite motionless on my front porch when I returend from a walk around 8 PM. Walked right up to it and it hardly budged. Went inside and got a baking tray, pushed it right up to the bird (again, it barely moved) and filled it with water. Put the mist attachment on the hose and literally sprayed the bird with it, to cool it off. Noticed it sipping a bit from the pools which formed beneath it, though it ignored the tray. Went and got a handful of seed and tossed it at the bird. More action this time - it hopped away, about 50 cm, then remained motionless. Went inside, sat in the lounge and raised the blind so I could watch it. Then put on an episode of Star Trek TNG*. Turned periodically to look and the bird was still there. Until, half an hour into the episode, I turned once more just in time to catch it flying off. Warm fuzzies ensued. :D

Major Aurora Australis alert for millions of Aussies as sun produces strongest radiation flare in 20 years:

A powerful geomagnetic storm is set to light up the night sky all around Australia in vivid colours. The Bureau of Meteorology issued a rare alert that a "severe geomagnetic storm" is in progress, which may be seen in nearly every state.

It is the strongest solar radiation storm in over 20 years, since October 2003. The powerful weather event is expected to trigger the stunning aurora Australis, also known as the southern lights.

And Swinburne astrophysicist Dr Kirsten Banks told Yahoo News Australia this alert in particular is "very exciting".

"Aurora may be observed during local nighttime hours in good observing conditions at regions as far equatorward as equatorial latitudes," the alert states.

This includes Tasmania and Victoria, plus parts of NSW, ACT, SA and WA.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.
