Recently our GM got shifted sideways into National Sales Manager role ( demotion ) and a new GM has started. His LinkedIn profile lists "organizational restructuring" as one of his key skills.

Over several months they (executive / board ) have been, in real terms, aresholing my Manager out the door. He's had a break down, he's caused himself to be unwell with the worry and they're about to go into an unfair dismissal / constructive dismissal proceedings.

Watching what the global corporation has done to the man who I have worked alongside for 18 years and who has afforded me the guidance and mentorship to get to my earning capacity to where it is and afford my family the security we have is heart breaking. It's not my doing. I cannot change any of it and they're going to want me, someone who has witnessed this, to move into his role or at least take on some of his role.

I've got two weeks of work, 3 weeks leave over Xmas, 5 weeks to consider my own future.

It's been disgusting to watch and I'm pretty sure I don't want to work for these people.

Yeah that would suck. Kind of time where you want to punch a few suits right in the nose!!

Sadly from experience if they will do it to another employee they will do it to you........if it suits their agenda.

I personally would move on. I could not work with that with the knowledge that they could also do the same thing to me.

Obviously I don’t know the extent but just on this post I couldn’t do it. Like me, you are at the stage of life where work isn’t as important as it use to be. I have often said to my family I’d be happy to finish up and work part time at a supermarket and umpire weekend sport. I’m lucky I don’t have debt and I understand not everyone is in the same position

What a horrible situation to be in.
Even keeping a work diary highlighting experiences with the board/executive could be handy on the way out, should it get that bad.

Yeah, this. Write down every interaction, ask for verbal instructions to be clarified in email, or follow up with an email, just to keep a trail.

There's a very detailed journal.

I have an interview on Tuesday.

That's horrible Booney. These types of situations remind me why I decided to work for myself. There is only one person looking out for you, and that's you. Take that time off to re-evaluate your priorities. Best of luck to you.

I'm sure you're all over it, but just a general friendly reminder to ask the question about the salary including or excluding the super portion.

Surprised companies still include mandatory super repayments as part of your package...

Apparently advertising salary plus super is only a South Australian thing...

Once worked for a company with a head office in Melbourne I had to clarify this salary including super they were a bit confused. They only paid salary monthly and didn't understand a lot of things of how the industry worked in SA.

It happened to me many moons ago, ever since I've been quick to ask "That excludes super, right?".

Work vehicles and other benefits I understand.

It's called "Total Employment Cost"
I include everything in it
Salary
Super
Leave Loading
Insurance
Car Park
FBT
An increase of 1% in the SGL forms part of any increase in TEC

Despite Keating saying companies would just suck it up, they dont. And why should they.
