Double the work for carey, but I’m sure he’s up for it.

It's a 2 pronged effect, you instantly feel better and they struggle to breath, its win/win.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

:(

The young cricketer who was accidentally struck in the neck during a nets session has tragically passed away.

Victorian community cricket has been numbed by the death of a promising Ferntree Gully player described as an “awesome young man’’.

Ben Austin, 17, was struck on the neck by a ball and collapsed in the nets at Walley Tew Reserve in Ferntree Gully on Tuesday night ahead of a Twenty20 match between Ferntree Gully and Eildon Park.

The Rowville Sports Academy student was not listed to play in the game.

After being treated by Ambulance Victoria staff, Ben was taken to Monash Medical Centre and placed on life support.

The Ferntree Gully club and association announced his death this morning.

“All of our thoughts, prayers and love are with Ben’s family at a time of unimaginable grief,’’ the association said.

“Ben – who was both talented and popular in local cricket – is an enormous loss to our local community.

“I know how heavily this news will land across our community and we will provide any and all support we can to our clubs and cricket family.

That is extremely sad, just sickening

Having been net captain at grade club for over 10 years have seen players hit and many close calls, always feared a tragedy could happen one day the force players hit the ball these days and players not paying attention.

Life just isn't fair

Playing in the hills there was many a close miss where you didn't pick the ball up in the fading sunlight with trees in the background, you always felt a bit nervous but never thought you could lose your life over it.

So bloody sad.. can't even put into words. Feel for the family and everyone involved.

Makes me angry a little too - we get all sorts of Indian blokes / teams rock up to our nets every night - they're not allowed to use the nets and i'm coaching juniors, but they wont listen and move on, but they think they need to practice T20 and have balls being smashed everywhere.. constantly in fear of one of my kids getting hit.

Again they don't listen "We need to practice our shots". ******* muppets.
