Strike threats definitely would have carried more weight on cup night. If the trainers were as serious as they say they are then a random thursday night would'nt have been chosen. Missed oppotunity for sure.

I do look forward to the outcome of this. I do fear those supporting the strike action will be left tarnished by the end of it all. Regardless of a strike or no strike. Just amusing that the issues raised were never mentioned at the industry info nights, because not a lot of this is actually new.

Thoughts on the match races?

Think they are a great concept when done right. Strong field tonight, I actually think Dalwhinnie is good value at $4.60

Adelaide Cup

at this moment like the 2 mepunga reward.
think it will drift out and will be a good place heavy play.

the 1,4 will be out in front battling each other, the 3 could also push forward.
the 2 will settle 2-3L behind them and should have clear room

currently $4.20.
think it gets to $5

Cup night ramblings

race 1

like the 6 here, twice in its last 5 starts beaten by 8 & 9L by Mallee Beauty, this is a significant downgrade. Think its worth an ew play at the $10.
1 - is the logical favourite from the inside draw.

race 2 -
1 - watch the 1 in race 1 to get its form franked.
2 - has grown a leg since changing kennels. value for exotics
5 - will be charging late through the line
8 - leads, gets tired.... but might be too far in front for them to catch?
no bet

race 3
2 - i think jumps on terms with the field and settles no worse than 4th/5th on the fence and will be strong late
8 - its a mystery to me why its so short, that mystery will be solved and ill probably be proven wrong, but i cant see it winning.
6 - the $1.85 fav, a little short for me.

in a typical NTD race here, id be playing the 2 on a place heavy basis for an interest

race 4
Over the 730m
6 is clearly the best dog in this, i have a few concerns with the draw.
4 - well in the market, can lead, and i feel it needs to. a little one dimensional for me.
the 5,2 i feel are the main dangers here.
perhaps small win bets on 2,5

race 5
what happens here is anyones guess. i have come up with two possible outcomes
the 5 leads and then wins.
OR
there is a line of 6-7 going into the first turn and there is carnage.
the 8 is the play here for me.
bet 8 on a 1 x 3 basis

race 6
3 - will be improved on last weeks effort
4 - if it wants to win, it will.

bet - 4 win - medium

race 7 - CUP
4 is clearly the best dog in this race.
race looks set up for the inside 4 to fill the F4.
im still sticking with the 2 as my pick. will lob 4th/5th and get a lovely soft run behind the leaders. it will be the only one flashing home late here.

bet - 2 on a 1 x 4 medium

race 8
5 jumos off the page.

bet - 5 win - tiny

race 9
same race as above, the 4 is the one that stands out for me

bet - 4 win small

race 10
2 - again reflect on r1 - 1 for form to be franked further.
1 - the vic visitot looks the one from the rails.

no bet

race 11
1 - has had this box for 5 wins from 6 goes
7 - looks the pick

no bet

race 12

the get out stakes here, and i fancy the 5,8 to battle the race out. happy to risk the 4.
but not a race to get financially interested in.
