After 107 league games, South's Liam Fitt will play in the Southern league next season. The SANFL loses another player in their mid 20's with plenty of good footy still left in them. Happens all too often of course, nothing new.

The following is from the official NAFC website, It seems a long list but other than Ramsey who retired early in the year every other player spent some time in the Reserves last season. Minervini was a 100 game player over 10 seasons and I thought Lockyer, Casalini, Patmore and McCann still had something to offer at League level.

Coaches
Matthew Broadbent
Matthew Burgess

Players
Noah Casalini - Moving to Gold Coast
Charlie Dinning - Moving to Horsham
Brodie Findlay - Returning to Melbourne
Colby Hill
Nigel Lockyer - Moving to Darwin
Jack McCann - Playing for Flinders Park
Lee Minervini - Retired. Playing for Modbury
Jake Patmore
Keenan Ramsey - Retired
Jackson Savage
Will Tasker
James Willis - Playing for Modbury

Which is completely fair enough...

Thats the problem with the SANFL these days though is there is plenty of fair enough reasons for blokes not to play at SANFL level.

I'd be surprised if he's not on better coin at McLaren, South aren't huge spenders.

I think once players exit the window of being a mature age draftee (around 25), the carrot of paying SANFL is just not that strong anymore. And it's not just blokes playing mercenary at a new local club each year, either.

I've seen firsthand the pull of playing and winning with mates, the culture some local clubs have is brilliant, and the "less work for better pay" certainly rings a bell for Gen Z!
