Yes a couple of no names get traded early on, maybe a mid tier player in the 1st week to keep us interested and any top line players will be, will he or wont he meet the trade deadline! These top trades are likely to have already been done but are held over until the last hour for suspense and TV purposes.

I have a feeling Butters might get done this year.
I think Merret stays at Essendon, Hawks swoop on Humphrey instead. Id be happy with this scenario. Humphrey will end up a better player than what Merret can provide from here on out.
Curnow gets to Sydney, despite what Carlton are saying, they want him gone, its clear him and Voss dont get on.

Bloody hell that's a fair deal, I'd be a bit home sick as well seeing that contact sitting in Victoria lol.

What trade capital have the dogs put on the table, would think it would need to be 2 x 1st rounders

Nah Butters is one of Potts two Ferraris, he would be worth three first rounders inclusive of futures
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I just can’t see Merrett staying. He will get to Hawthorn but probably at the last minute.
Butters will probably stay and then get some far bigger offers as a FA next year

The thing that has me thinking he stays is that he hasnt actually said he wants a trade to Hawthorn yet. They only say they want a trade to a particular club when they know the deal will get done. I have faith in Hawthorn offering enough, i have no faith in Essendon accepting a fair deal. 1st this year and next year, perhaps Essendons 2nd round next year coming back and you can have the steak knives of Hustwaite.
I hope we dont trade McKenzie, imo he will become an above avergae mid, looks so much like Sam Mitchell

Not a bad little get for what essentially is a bag of salt and vinegar chips at the end of the draft.

A goal a game small forward with a bit of upside.

Sam Flanders' trade to St Kilda is agreed. Pick 7 to head to the Suns. Could go through as early as today, but more likely on Wednesday.

It will set the Suns' hand as 6, 7, 14 and 17 inside the top-20 with many deals left to do.

Gold Coast will have 6, 7*, 14, 17, 35, 62, 73.

They'll use 2 of the top 17 for Petracca, they'll throw anything at the Bulldogs for Ugle-Hagan and they'll accept it then take top 5 prospect Zeke Uwland and top 10 prospect Dylan Patterson from their Academy picks with the balance.

Fair trade haul for them.

Meanwhile in what's reportedly a weak draft Essendon are all in with picks 4, 5, 20, 26, 29 and probably pick 8 from Hawthorn and a future 1st for Merrett.

They could have 4, 5, 8*, 20, 26, 29.

I’m not sure it’s weak as such but there are no clear standouts, rather 8 or 9 around the same level.

Interesting to read comments from Patterson over the weekend, makes me think Gold Coast have given him no promises

Patterson is hoping to be taken by the Suns but is happy to play anywhere to achieve his AFL dream.

“If they don’t manage to get me, I just think their loss. I’m happy to go prove myself somewhere if they are willing to do that,” Patterson said.

Trade approved.

Gold Coast SUNS trade Malcolm Rosas Jnr and a Round Four pick 62 to Sydney Swans for a Round Three pick 51 and a Round Four pick 69 in the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft.
