You asked a question in here & I answered it, with what I thought was a decent reply.
I don't expect any gratitude from you.
Yes I went too far on Saturday with my argument with Dedja. That said the blokes an idiot.
I will take a spell from the forum, enjoy talking to Dedja.

I didn’t see your reply (if there was one, that’s how I read this that there was one) however this was with you in mind.
No matter your thoughts on him you went too far and surprisingly he didn’t bite back.
I have no idea if you have any personal issues/experiences with him but again you went too far with your abuse.

So, that would mean, I wouldn't need the Optus or Telstra network to dial 000, right?. Now I'm confused!
Edit: Just read that it selects a network if one isn't working. Now assuming that the people dialling only had Optus networks available to them?

i read elsewhere, the optus network was actually working fine. normal calls, sms, data etc was unaffected. it just wasnt passing on 000 calls at all.
so for people with optus phones, as the network was up, it would start the 000 call, but then just nothing. so their phone wouldnt then use a diferent carrier for the call, as the phones default network was still there and "working" so it wouldnt fall over to other available networks.
bit of a perfect storm really that prevented the backup of using another network from taking the call.
it apparently also shouldnt have happened. the optus network should have recognised that it wasnt passing on 000 calls, and effectively shut itself down, so peoples phones would then use the backup, but they didnt actually have that monitoring, so were unaware themselves that they werent passing the 000 calls on, hence the length of the outage.
to compound things, apparently people called their support lines to report not being able to make 000 calls and were basically fobbed off.
its a bit hard to see anything amongst this that optus has actuall done right. if everything i have read on it is true (i am ceartinly no expert, and im not pretending to be)
