David Barham hands over the Essendon presidency to Andrew Welsh in an off-season of turmoil: "Since becoming President, I have repeatedly said that sustained, long-term success relies on unity, stability and alignment and this transition to Andrew Welsh ensures that maintained."

Getting knifed in a coup creams unity and stability.

This wasn’t the coup.
Welsh was always set to succeed Barham.
The coup is the idiots like Paul Little who have been making noise about taking the club back

Welsh, on paper, has the perfect mix of footy and business.

Wonder if Barham's dust up with Ted Fordham was the last straw?

No arguments there.
Unfortunately there are a number of wealthy backers who don’t want change and treat the club as their own play toy. It’s never going to get better with these clowns around

You could replace your name with mine and it would read the same about Carlton. Sick of people wanting it about them and not for the good of the club. Hopefully we've started changing things a bit earlier than you Jim.
