Tut tut.

Chris, come on....

Chris Scott’s aggressive outburst towards a female AFL staff member was triggered by the presence of visually impaired reporter Matt “Spider” Lee at his post-match MCG press conference.

Lee, a former SEN producer who hosts a weekly program for Vision Australia radio, was the accredited media figure at the centre of Scott’s blow up after Geelong’s big qualifying final win over Brisbane on September 5.

Geelong has declined to explain why Scott was upset about Lee’s presence or detail what was said between Scott and the junior AFL staffer.

Lee said he was “shocked” and saddened to discover that his attendance at the conference had sparked Scott’s exchange with the female media official, which prompted her to later break down in tears.

The dual premiership coach apologised to the woman five days later following discussions between league officials and Cats CEO Steve Hocking.

Lee, 45, is legally blind and suffers from an hereditary eye condition that makes his vision gradually deteriorate.

He is well known within football circles and regularly attends post-game press conferences with a support worker.

“I was a little bit shocked – and sad – to hear about it to be honest,” Lee said of his link to the incident.

“I must admit, I am a bit rattled by it.

“It’s just really disappointing that someone would say something like that behind my back.”

But the club made contact with Lee on Monday morning to reassure him that he was “welcome” at all future Cats press conferences.

“Matt is welcome at any Geelong media opportunity and there is no concern with his attendance at Chris Scott’s post-game press conferences,” a club spokesperson said.

Lee could come face-to-face with Scott again after Friday night’s blockbuster Geelong-Hawthorn preliminary final at the MCG.

The media figure is formally accredited to attend AFL matches under an arrangement between the league and Vision Australia..

A bloke on SEN just likened Buckley’s approach to the Melbourne gig to a bloke thinking a girl was going to take off her dress before he’d even bought her the first drink.

I read over the weekend that; on Friday, Buckley was told it was his job if he wanted it but they wanted an answer that day
He wasn't prepared to commit that day so they appointed King and told the staff and players

When I think of post 2000 AFL football three names come to mind as the proper elite. Ablett Jnr, Franklin and Martin. Not just because of Friday night, but in some ways because of Friday night I'll add Dangerfield to that. The four best players at AFL level since 2000 are Ablett Jnr, Franklin, Martin and Dangerfield and all four will one day be Australian Football Hall of Fame Legends.
