I've now got an addiction to cooking a brisket in the smoker every Sunday, now the kids have cottoned on they seem to have to pick something up or drop something off each Sunday arvo which I absolutely love (apart from now I don't get as much leftovers for lunches for the week).
Last couple of weeks I've done some beef shorties to go with and then a lamb shoulder the Sunday just gone, it's hard to pick what I like best, I've totally perfected the brisket, even just the Coles ones are simply awesome.
So yeah, I look forward to each Sunday now as of Monday morning, I've told the kids dinner will be served @ 5pm, they just need to let me know by Saturday morning so I can get the right amount vegies etc.
I love restoring a family tradition that got a little lost in translation.
Was giving the smoker and I a rest on Sunday when the eldest daughter reminded me that she's heading to Asia/Europe for 7 weeks as of yesterday, she asked if I could still do a cook up but needed it to be ready by 1pm.
Sunday was supposed to be a pleasant day so I suggested I do a BBQ as I had a few kilo's of a dry aged scotch fillet that I was keen to rip the scab off of.
BBQ was on point, youngest got home from town around 5:30am so he only emerged for the food and the 2nd youngest was MIA after captaining her team to a premiership the day before.
In two weeks the 2nd eldest heads to Thailand for a week or so for a Bucks party then on to Bali for a week for the wedding, I think Fathers Day might be a bit quiet this year.
