Port really cocked up this succession plan thing, hey?

Yeah, they couldn't have f*cked it up any more!

Wanna bet?

https://7news.com.au/sport/afl/outgoing ... c-19733125

Outgoing Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley will receive a cash bonus somewhere near the $400,000 mark as he ends his 13-year stay at the club.

7NEWS chief AFL reporter Mitch Cleary has exclusive details of the backdated payout, which is from money owed to Hinkley dating back to the COVID period of 2020 and 2021.

Cleary also said on Seven’s The Agenda Setters that the $400K will come out of the club’s soft cap (the amount of money an AFL club can spend on its football department) next year.

Cash bonus haha

My god Kenny played the club like a fiddle for so long.

Would it be accurate to assume he's milked them for $10m all told?

To be fair it is cash he was owed that got pushed back due to COVID, not sure why you wouldn't pay it this year though and be done?

Makes sense now why they didn't pull the cord on him at the end of 2024

Just money from the COVID years that he deferred. I'd say it was keeping money in the coffers in tough times through COVID and wanting it back when the time came.

Sounds like entitlements that are fairly due to him, like they would be to any another person in any industry.

Why is this controversial or a problem? :-??

Agree, if that’s the case good on him for delaying payment during a tough period. It does say bonus though

The repercussions to the club next year, that's why.

The soft cap goes up $750k next year so the $400k gets absorbed in that but it's $400k less the club can spend on supporting a first year AFL coach.

The glazing of Ken Hinkley by the media needs to be studied.

That’s the clubs problem not Ken’s.
He’s owed the money
Why wasn’t the club paying him back yearly since Covid?
Oversight or hoping he would forget about it?
