We didn't want to go to the tribunal, he only had 1 game to deregistration, we were willing to accept the prescribed penalty offered.

In my head initially I thought it would be around 6 + 2 for the flop. I was thinking it was intentional - Body - Medium 4-6 weeks.

The end result was top end of each penalty - guess that's the trade off for not going to the tribunal - but whether it was 1, 5, 10, 20 didn't matter in regard to his playing days.

10 games for the strike - Intentional > High contact > Severe Impact / Circumstances
4 games for rough conduct
Total: 14 games

Also worth noting, is the AdFL take into consideration potential to cause injury which also jacks up the impact rating (fair enough too).

I will say this, the AdFL are the front runners in this space, and have been leaders for a long time.. people rag on the league, but one thing that has been revolutionary is how they manage indiscretions on / off field.. how they handle matters like dangerous tackles, striking etc with high end penalties... how they reduced their dereg to 12 games. It's all for the better.

Yeah agree. I've been critical of the AdFL over the years but in the last 5 or so years they have done a great job!

Not just limited to the Spencer Gulf. SFL gave a bloke a discount for headbutting another player as he'd been a rep player in the past...

I can assure you he was not KO'd, and i'm suggesting the concussion results from Brandon landing on his head.

If you continue to watch the game, you can see the player gets up and goes directly to report to the umpire, and is nursing his shoulder where struck.. and then plays on the game.. even pointing out the camera to Brandon not long after letting him know he's faarked.

Also, sorry, I wasn't trying to discuss / argue the incident again - and I'm not trying to justify - I just think it was really ordinary for the Advertiser to name shame the player + club on one article, and then on the other completely different. If they'd said "An A grade footballer has been banned after striking a player in local footy game" I'm certain the level of abuse, threats etc would not have been so extreme.

I felt your pain last week and when I seen you on the weekend it was good to see you just out doing what you love doing and after a good win, I wasn't going to mention the elephant on the oval.

I've been there, done that, I ran the Bronx for a while and there were days when I got home absolutely broken over an avoidable incident. It rips your guts out to see all of your efforts just seemingly be destroyed in an instance.

Hang in there mate, stay away from the socials as much as you can and focus on what you can control.

Thanks bub

On the weekend.. just quietly, it looks a little creepy having a man on the far side of the oval, near the bushes dressed in black (and white shoes  ) watching the women play in fading light.

Should also say, SR could go down as the laziest umpire ever to umpire a game - I would be surprised if he cracked 1,000 steps for the game!

Keep your head up Bedge, you do an incredible amount not just for Ingle Farm and sports in general. You really are an amazing person, even my lad has said that.

You’ll keep fighting (pardon the pun) until you are blue in the face, that’s the type of bloke you are. You and the club have been through worse and come through it stronger. No doubt it will happen again

Edit. I missed that LM had been complementary, I take it all back #prick

Ha, I've always sat as far away as possible from other people when watching my kids play, I like watching in peace and don't like listening to people scream shit out regardless of who they're supporting.

Yeah, the ole "I'll find a free to bring the ball back my way" approach.

What the saying.....

Last weeks newspaper is this weeks fish wrapper.

A week is a long time in footy and the beauty to sport is your club get to go out again this week, represent your community, your people and be the true version of yourselves.

Try and somehow enjoy Saturday mate, even if it means watching in a quiet space by yourself.

Unfortunately young journalists these days are measured on how many clicks their articles or social media gets, the quality of the reporting is way down the list, so something "sensational" like this is always going to be front and centre of the click bait pile on. The days of journalists having any credibility is over.

Id suggest the Pt Augusta one didn't get as much attention as it isn't in the metro area, but thats just a guess.

and in the last few years it seems everyone needs to be outraged, seems part of life these days

Yep 100%

The metro/country + popular footballer on the local circuit vs nobody + better quality footage/better view, angle + the aftermath made it a 'more entertaining' video to watch which is the increased viewership which then = increased comments, hysteria, stereotypes about clubs.

News isn't about the news, it's about the 30 second video or clip and how entertaining that is.

News is purely another form of entertainment.

Incredible performance in May, came in 4/5 days for the week! A first for the year. It did coincide with a visit from Brisbane from the GM though so not sure if that played a part, but still, well done girl, really took your game to another level.

Sadly though, that week really took it out of her, and required the next 6 days off.

Finished 3 days attendance in June.

On track for best month in July - so far an attendance of 7 days - but that does include a 5 day work trip to Brisbane (Travel Mon, Travel Fri, 3x days in office).

That effort has brought the yearly average percentage up to 38% attendance for the year. Huge effort.

This is the sort of content I'm here for!!

You're being far too generous in counting travel days, though. Also, Brisbane is only a 2.5 hour flight, does she not go to the office after she lands?

Oh no, doesn't go in the office - she's too tired.. and instead of getting the early flight like most, she got the mid-morning flight so lands around 1pm, by the time she gets an uber and checks in to her hotel, day is all but done.

She also thinks she's entitled to "time off in lieu" for travelling
