Was nearly that last season.
36ers were buying tickets back if you couldn’t go and giving you vouchers for merchandise.
I missed the last 2 games coz we were away and got a $160 voucher in return.

Melbourne United have announced the signing of import Milton Doyle to a one-year deal who spent the past three seasons with the Tasmania JackJumpers.

Also the SE Melbourne Phoenix have announced the signing of import Omari Moore to a one-year deal. He's a 6'6" combo guard who played in Turkey last season and is currently playing in Canada during the off-season.

Finally the NBL have just announced the two NBAxNBL games that Melbourne United & SE Melbourne Phoenix are playing against the New Orleans Pelicans at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne this October have both sold out.

Tell you what, they’d want to win some early games in the new season or the fans in the West are going to string up everyone involved with the Wildcats. I hear you and expect the Wildcats will be right up there again this season. The only positive in Cotton's departure was you can only have a combination of four imports and 'marquee' players, a player designated by their team as a 'marquee' means only about $150k of their salary counts against the salary cap. Cotton, because he bungled his naturalisation attempt back in 2021, is still an import and because of that the Wildcats could never 'marquee' his contract which restricted the talent they could put around him salary cap wise. Teams can go over the cap but then have to pay a luxury tax to do so. I think the Wildcats will now be able to field a more balanced team rather than being so Cotton-heavy.

In regards to the 36ers they have said Cotton intends to naturalise later in the season and the club have said they will do everything they can to help him as obviously means we could then 'marquee' his contract and free up another import spot. The Cotton signing was a big coup for a variety of reasons and we've got him for the next three years too. With the Ninnis thing I think it was more the shock of it than anything, I think most long-term Sixers fans remembered his first stint as coach which was quite mediocre. It's starting to look like Weston knew exactly what he was doing promoting Wells with his links to Cotton with Bryce being a free agent 12 months later.

The NBL & WNBL have announced HoopsFest will be returning to Perth this upcoming season but instead of the start of the season will be 15-18 January instead with the 36ers set to play the SE Melbourne Phoenix in Perth on Sunday 18th January.

Now officially confirmed the 36ers have signed import Zylan Cheatham to a one-year deal. He's a 6'8" PF who has previously played with the NZ Breakers, had brief stints in the NBA with the New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz and played in Japan last season.

That's the big thing at the moment why a few NBL team owners are taking Larry Kestelman to court led by the Illawarra Hawks billionaire American owner Jared Novelly.

Novelly and 1 or 2 two other owners of NBL teams aren't happy with a few ways LK runs the NBL including the dispersal of funds from both the sale of teams and the TV broadcast deal, worth $15 million a season.

The NBL have announced it's in-season tournament will be called the Ignite Cup, which will see teams play games on Wednesday nights over the course of the season with quarter by quarter scoring on a separate ladder with the top two teams qualifying for the final in February.

The NBL have released the 2025-26 season schedule only available in full on the NBL App at least for the time being. The season starts on Thursday September 18 with the Tasmania JackJumpers taking on Melbourne United. The 36ers have a bye in Round 1 due to their two games against Panathinaikos and Partizan Belgrade in Sydney on September 21 & 22. The 36ers will play their opening game of the season against the Brisbane Bullets at home on Sunday September 28.

I really think this is the birth of a new era in the NBL and soft caps will explode over the next 2-3 years. The NBL is doing exactly what Football Australia should have done with the A League 12-13 years ago and now FA has completely stuffed it up. NBL popularity in this country is about to explode and become a big money spinner with all the private owners coming in. Adelaide have made some pretty bloody good investments financially over the last 5-6 years and whilst it hasn’t turned into on court success (Yet) you can’t argue that they aren’t investing into their fans over the last 2 years in particular.
